Response to Corn Silks

sounds like they are getting ripe,, if by "purple", you mean that they are starting to dry some,, and turning darker

Corn silk is where pollination for the kernels takes place. If they are still white, they may still be collecting pollen. When they start to brown.. or darken, the silks have done their job and the corn should be getting done. Check one, as they also need water to develope the kernel. If you do not have enough corn, (wind pollinated) it may not get the pollen blown onto the silks, thus they say plant in blocks rather than one long row. Hope this helped. ~Brenda~
