Shearer

I've heard that he's in full training, does everything the other lads do, and is raring to go. Some say he'll be on the bench v SAFC, some say he'll start.

I'd be tempted to start him even if he's subbed just for his presence. Would you start him, and give him an hour, or bring him on with 1/2 an hour to go?

Oi! The man has suberb musical taste! I'd only sack him if he swanned into the heart flashing his vip pass and stood in front of people shorter than him who waited in line since dawn to get just the right spot/view. ;-)

Of mixed opinion on whether he should start Sunday. On one hand it would be a huge boost for us if he did. On the other hand, the Mackems won't make it an easy return.

Oh....I meant he should get 30 mins tonight....then probably more of the same on saturday....

He's the guest commentator on Metro, according to Mick and Mick last Sunday.

I'd like to see him coming off the bench for a few games - with him getting only 15-20 minutes per game to ease him back in gently.

This really is IT for Shearer - if we get his reintroduction wrong this time there will be no way back.

Apparently he was cleared by Steadman to start "full competitive training" from 22/08/01. Tomorrow. Any show on Sunday must be limited to the bench. 30 mins tops.

On the bench, bring him on for the last 20 minutes or so.

I just hope it's not in the same circumstances as the Troyes match, a desperation substitution.

I would only bring him on if we really need him. The match is going to be very physical and for someone who has just recovered from a major knee operation, getting a crunching tackle from behind isn't going to be pleasant.
