Bye Bye Don

Don Hutchison is set to complete a surprise move to Rangers in a £3.5million deal.

The Sunderland striker has been in negotiations with the Ibrox club for four days after making it clear that he is keen on a move from the Stadium of Light.

Dick Advocaat's side are set to fly out to Turkey for their Champions League qualifier second leg, but will look to complete a move upon their return.

Hutchison was absent from Sunderland's winning side over Ipswich on Saturday due to suspension and he seems unlikely to play for the side again,.

It was initially reported that Hutchison wanted a move to London with former club West Ham the favourites, but he looks set to become Rangers' second signing from the Premiership this week, following Michael Ball's £6.5million move.

Good! I hope it means we don't have to see him at SJP again! What is it with Sunderland? Does Reid fall out with players or is it just because some players are greedy mercenaries? God knows we've had our fair share!

He has just the attitude that they appreciate at Rangers, snarling, miserable, cheating, they'll love him. If you can get any odds, any odds at all, on him getting sent off in the first Old Firm game then take them.

Maybe one of the scum..sorry I mean Sunderland ;)) lads can tell us what's going on here? Is it another fall out with Reidy a la Sumberbee?

Johnstone, Makin, Summerbee and now Hutchinson (possibly). A fine tribute to Mr Reid's team-building and man-management skills.

Actually we can slag him off for it but personally he gets some respect from me for it....in these days when player power rules he's taking no shit, lots of managers pay lip service to the old cliche of only wanting players that want to play for the club but Reid actually does it...It seems to me (obviously I don't know any of the facts) that as soon as a player starts to rock the boat then it's the last thing they'll do at the club...

I admire the way Reid goes about his job as well Gav. I don't like what I hear about the style of play (I never watch them) but he does seem to have a good eye for a bargain and seems to have little time for the primadonnas of the game. That might get tougher for him as Sunderland are now starting to take on more imports.

Eats bananas with a certain panache as well I understand ...

It doesn't say a lot for a town (sic) when your wife would be happier living in Glasgow.

You lot know as much as we do about the media. This whole thing has risen out of one slightly petulant comment on his icons site about never saying never about a transfer.

SAFC are being tight-lipped as usual - perhaps there is a story, perhaps there isn't, I doubt this Rangers guff is it. By all accounts Don doesn't want to leave, Reidy knows nothing about any transfer. If the board sold a first team player behind Reidy's back, he'd resign.

No doubt us fans will be the very last to find out the truth (as usual).

I can't see the attraction with Rangers either mind....it could only be money...

The back page of the Daily Record has this as it's main story, a world exclusive no less. As the paper is also known as the Daily Rangers, it could be true.
