HELP! Out-of-sync audio using Pinnacle's STUDIO DV 1.05

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I use a Sony Digital Handycam DCR-TRV530 to shoot vdos and capture through its i-link cable with a Studio DV Software by Pinnacle System. Studio DV captures to an .AVI format and it's capable of rendering your videos to MPEG-1 format for use on VCDs. My problem comes in when I play back the rendered video file after a minute, the audio slowly gets out of sync or lags by a second or two. I don't know how to solve this problem. I use a PentiumIII 450, w/a 320mb of ram, 16mb vdo card. What could be the source of my problem? Please help. Thanks!

It is a known problem. Please go to www.vcdhelp.com and you will find it in the FAQ. But the solution is not that simple.

This could help...

1> Instead of using the "i.LINK Digital In/Out (IEEE1394)" output of your "Sony DCR-TRV530" try using the composite A/V output to feed your "Pinnacle Studio DV" .. if it can accept it.

2> Instead of more memory and CPU speed...dig for faster hard- disk..like 10000 RPM SCSI or atleast 7200 RPM IDE with ATA 100 enabled.

3> Why not capture directly to MPEG without Pinnacle DV? Try using MGI VideoWave 4.0 (not SE) along with Ligos GoMotion CODEC, but it is very costly.
