Wartime population

What was SF's wartime population? In Mel Scott's The SF Bay Area 1943 population is estimated to be approx. 800,000 (pg 254) but this seems way out of line with other population estimates for that time.

Like I suggested for the question on the female population of San Francisco, you should also go to ABAG (The Association of Bay Area Governments). They have year by year figures.

According to http://www.sf50.com/sf/hgpop.htm, the 1940 population was 634,536.

The site had wonderful information after 1947, but none during war years due to what they stated as "unusual migrations".
