OK, I can't find squat in the archives!

The shutter failed on my M3. What are your recommendations for repair shops? I know you have posted this before, but I haven't been able to find the recommendations. Real pain; I am leaving soon on a trip and will have to use the M6. May just take the Nikon stuff instead.

Thanks,,,

Art,

Here is a couple of links from my "favorites" file on my browser. The first is a Leica general information link collection, and the second is a link full of repair facilities taken from the first link. The first link would be worth bookmarking on your own computer for future use.

Sorry about your problem with the M3. Hope the time constraint is not too severe to get the repair accomplished prior to your trip. FWIW... I have done some long trips with only a single M6. I know that it is better to have some redundancy, but I would rather go with the single Leica, than no Leica.

Good luck.

P.S. You might let us know where you live. Someone might know of a local shop in your area that could be recomended.

Art, is it possible that the shutter problem might be due to a film chip--a problem that might be fixed locally? A film chip in a shutter can really cause trouble.

Thanks alot for you help. I have saved the web addresses. I know the person that orginally purchased the camera and also the person that he sold it to [and I bought it from]. The shutter hasn't failed before in its 44 y life; I sure can't complain about that. I will contact these places on Monday.

Once again, thanks.
