Is summer long enough for you?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Gwen's Trailer Trash Forum : One Thread

I've rarely felt that summer is long enough. I guess living in Toronto will do that to you since the winter is so damn long.

We've had some atrocious weather (temps of 37C that are more like 43C with the humidity -- that's like 108F with 100% humidity), but I'm still not looking forward to fall. The sun is setting around 8:25 pm these days and that is too damn early for me.

What about y'all?

I'll take Fall over Summer any day. Why? Well, I don't tan and I don't look good in either shorts or a bathing suit due to my perpetual lily white skin. My feet are ugly, so I don't like to wear sandals. =) Heh... I'm just happiest when I'm fully clothed! Also, in the Fall the football season begins, Halloween takes place, and I have Thanksgiving to look forward to. All the lovely holiday celebrations happen in the Fall! I love how the leaves change colors... I love sitting around a fire, all snuggled up in a warm woolen afghan or sweater... Drinking hot coacoa and eating pumpkin bread... Yeppers! Fall can't come fast enoug

Summer seems to fly by so fast. My kids went back to school last week. It seems like after the Fourth of July that summer is almost over....stores start putting out the school stuff then. Autumn is very pleasant here where I live and I like autumn almost as much as summer.

It's too long for me. It doesn't really cool down until October here, and I love fall best, too.

When I lived in New Orleans, summer was definitely long enough. It can be hot pretty much any day of the year there, summer or not. Summers in Denver can be hot (100 degrees plus sometimes) but the humidity isn't there to suffocate you. Still, I think summer in Denver is too long. I'm tired of it and I'd rather it get cool again, the sooner the better.

Summer in Virginia can last from May to October, even November. Too long now that I have to work like an adult and don't get to run around the neighborhood with no shoes until dark. I wish we could get rid of this stupid Daylight Savings Time. I'm not a farmer, I don't need anymore daylight than I already get. Go down, sun, already!!

I live in Toronto too, and this has been a crazy-hot summer for those of us without air conditioning. I just got back from a couple of months in Asia, though, and after 41C in Bangkok, Toronto just doesn't feel so damn bad.

Also, I've gained weight since winter, so I'm worried about fitting into fall clothes...

I've always considered myself a "Summer" person. I *like* it hot, which is good b/c I live in TX, too and summer lasts at least 6mths. I usually have no problem. This year, however, I went to the Far North (New York, Vermont, Mass.) for a week in July. It completely broke my heat-loving ways. It was 42 degrees one night. When I walked off the plane getting back into Austin, it was 95... at 11pm. I almost cried. Summer needs to be over now.

Summer's pretty long here. Then again, I'm in the American South. Summer starts in April and continues through October.

My gauge on whether it is Too Darn Hot: I perspire.

Understand that I'm very cold-natured, to the point where 75 on the A/C is uncomfortably cold for me sometimes. And I rarely perspire. I don't bother using anti- perspirant more than 4-5 days a year, because, even if it is in the 90's or more, I still don't sweat. It's a rare occasion, anyway. So if *I* am sweaty, it's Too Darn Hot.

Despite being cold-natured, I love fall and spring, which are both blustery seasons. I like layers. Winter (translation: two weeks in January) I'm less enthused about, as we don't get snow, and near-frostbite and constant shivering without snow as a payoff is just not fun. But you can always add another layer of clothing, right?
