Prutton In??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Most papers are stating that we have put a £3 million pound bid in for Prutton and Nott Forest are likely to accept. Hopefully he'll sign and if we also get guardiola, then that should be the midfield covered for now and the future!!!

I have been itching (since Saturday) to start a Get PEP thread, but I know most people on here think he's just priced himself out of our league. It would show those "red" teams that we are serious though!!!!

As for Prutton, good enough... but I'm sure YBR would put him in the reserves for the year.

Sparxx, if we get Guardiola, we will have to build the team around him - he's 30 and probably only has a couple of years of being worth building a team around. I'm not sure he's a player who would add much to out long term interests. Also, he has demonstrated that he is after one last pay packet (He was prepared to go to West Ham if they gave him enough money..) - given how much difficulty we have had over recent years from mercenaries, I'm not sure we should targeting a player who doesn't even disguise the fact that he is just a hired gun.

Exactly Dougal,

2 years left in him, just enough time for Prutton to make the transition and also by then we should be in a better position to attract top stars. Pep is on a free (no risk) offer him a 2 year contract and if he wants to play in the premiership that bad I'm sure he'll take it!!

I heard on Rueters that the Spanish coach wants himto move club, this is rediculous. If Bobby doesn't respect him as aperson or thinks he'll unsettle the squad then fair enough but I know they are friends so what's holding things up?

GUARDIOLA, Wants everything to go thro him, adept in looking good when in my eye he is conning, he will be closed down quick in the EPL and his back/side passes will be cut off, rarely beats his marker ,not a threat in the area , nah excactly what we don`t need at that price.

i hate to disagree with you buff but Guardiola is a lump of class. Don't be fooled into thinking he's a bad player. The Barca fans were gutted when he decided to leave. He's no slouch. And to be very blunt much better by miles than any player in our midfield (Robert excepted) i don't think we can afford to overlook available talent like this. HOWEVER something does seem to be putting off managers...it has to be the wages. Guardiola isn't Keane Vieira or even Savage, but as a passer and picker out of players there aren't many more experienced or who have the same amount of quality. And to be honest after watching Saturdays fare Robert would find this pretty damn pertinent, non?

Agreed Swift, "as a passer of a ball" , ?, he is a good passer. he does find his men , but watch him closely, He makes Ray Wilkins look direct , may be different in club games but I am afraid he does nuthin for me and would be a total misfit at Newcastle.

I was a bit disappointed in Prutton's performance last night against the baby cloggies. But I thought Da Silva had a canny game.
