The Weekend - Aug. 11-12

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MATH : One Thread

Anyone around? My goal this weekend is to finish the behemoth wedding database. And to stay up past midnight at least one night this weekend.

Well then, you need to call me.

Oh, the MOC told me to say "please," and that we would like to consume food with you. Perhaps Nuevo Laredo, is all I'm saying.

I can't call you on the infernal dial-up! Call us.

I will, then!

In my recent travels, I discoverd a route from our house to the Nuevo Laredo that takes only five minutes. I love this house.

Oh, but we have to go early, because DCI World Championships are on tonight at 9 and... ahem... I'm a huge nerd.

I think we all knew that already.

Hah!

Sorry, that was just too easy.

-- Anonymous, August 11, 2001

No, you're just to easy.

HA!

TOO

Mine was better.

And I'm only easy on the forums.

Uh... ok, Berman.

I am, of course, a paragon of virtue and clean living.

Also a trivia master, although I have to admit the discussed Georgia smackdown is a little intimidating. But only because I'm sure y'all will cheat.

-- Anonymous, August 11, 2001

I don't cheat, you know, or else I would win more often.

I feel bad for you that you have to work on a Sat. Is anything interesting happening today, sports-wise?

-- Anonymous, August 11, 2001

I'm falling asleep. Is that interesting?

Nah, not really. Alabama's No. 25 in the AP poll.

I know. I don't understand how we're not Number 25,000.

People, the MOC? He's a lunatic. He got up this morning, did laundry, disassembled the bed, with me still in it, because it's falling apart, took his computer apart to go get it fixed, paid bills, took a shower... all while I feebly staggered into the kitchen and did the dishes from yesterday just so I would look like I was contributing. Now he's off getting lost in the city trying to go to both Best Buy and Home Depot.

I swear, Saturday mornings, it's like he's a machine. What gives? I thought he was The Great Sloven.

I mean, the apartment is pretty much always spotless, since I have nothing to do all day but clean it up, but still. He bustles around like a man with a spreadsheet on fire!

I have an interview with Emory on Monday, by the way. Communications for the Business School. I also may get a call from The Carter Center. How much would y'all LOVE it if I worked in the Carter Center? How much would *I* love it? A lot. We'll see. I have a contact in HR that is determined to find me something. I want that Carter Center one. The Biz School looks boring. But I'd take it, peeps. I'd take it.

-- Anonymous, August 11, 2001

I think I used to know someone who worked at the Carter Center. Maybe. It's a little hazy.

Either job sounds cool, though.

I cannot believe that it is already 2:30. Shit. I haven't even brushed my teeth yet, and I haven't left this room since 11. I think, though, that I have entered almost all the names in the database.

The Guest List so far: 279 invitations with 539 guests.

Dayum.

Al, if you get that job at the Carter Center, that would just kick ass. Have you been out there yet?

I'm really, really hoping that I can get something at Agnes Scott. They have an event planning position that I'd be perfect for. I'm going by there on Monday to drop my resume off.

From that wacky Meloonsa...

"But it would have been my job. I could have tried to make things better. I could have been the good attorney who called the jail and asked the secretary for the names before hand. The jails were open an unbelievably large amount of hours. It could have happened. I had such high hopes. Really I did. "

See, here's the thing. You can't really do too much of that if you never feel like taking the bar exam.

I sort of laugh and sort of shake my head in disgust that she's blaming the rest of the world for her dismissal...
