I do not know if you know this but a friend of your youngest and myself was cremated yesterday. His name was PAUL FENWICK and i am sure that your boy will know him.He lived in Cherrytree Drive an was quite possibly the most intelligent person of our school age.Unfortunetly he was driven to alcohol for some reason and it got the better of him.Alas it took his life. R.I.P paul.

On an aside can you pass a message to your boy: Davey Gallagher says Hello.

I am sure that you can remember the kid in question. He was a quite tall lad with blond hair and he was honoured at school for attendance. He did not miss a day from the age of 4 till the age of 16.I take it you are at work as we 'speak?'

Kev, its 21 year since I left, I get embarrased when I go back down and cannot remember the guys I used to pint with , Neil may refresh my memory , Jonno tends to keep it ticking over at the present. Now Soupa I am going to let you into a wee secret , honest guy that I am. I know another Sunderland supporter in Whickham , in fact when I go down I stop at his pad on Whaggs , he was once on schoolboy forms for your lot , could catch him in the Gibside for a hour at the back of 5.30 every night , owns the shop cum goldmine next to Saltwell Club , ex-plod , I usually give him a cursory nod when down.

Kev, I think I know Paul, but I'm not 100% sure, can you remember/fins out where on Cherrytree, it being my home street. There were a few kids of the right vintage who lived in houses 12 and 18 both had alcoholic (or very high drinking ) dads. One had a sister, the other were two lads plus maybe a sister. When they were wee I used to push them up the hill on their toy tractors.

I can't believe it's the Paul Fenwick that it has turned out to be. My sister and mam and dad were up this weekend and were talking about Paul dying. I'd baby-sat for him and his brother quite a few times, and his mother used to cut my hair. (I went home and cried when she trimmed me from long haired lout to centre parting Dwight Stones look a like c 1974).

Very sad. My mam and dad said he had all sorts of personal problems and essentially hid in drink. My dad used to see him in the Coop getting a bottle of whiskey most days and then he just went off to the park to hide. To die of sleroscis (sp) at 32 is very sad.

Having not seen him for years he'll strangely always be a 10 year old curly blonde haired wee boy.
