Will be off line more than on, as I move stuff into storage and move in with the ex till things come back on line... god that's a scary thought... shudder...

Feel like I'm going from the fryingpan to the fire... :)

Well, it will save me 1,200 a month, in theory...

Carl, while yer packing, keep looking for ssomeone else who needs a roommate. It may be easier in the long run...

wishing you the best, at whatever you end up doing!

Thanks Barefoot, way ahead of you... be a lot easier to move around with the details taken care of... easier to pack a few suitcases than a house :)

One day at a time :)

Carl, if it's any consolation, me an' The Kid an' the dog once had to live in a tent on someone's back yard for three weeks. And we also occupied a sofa at someone's house for a month or two. That was a bad year.

Fingers very crossed for you.

Heck, I spent about three months weeks sleeping in a Vega hatchback and showering at the local university until I could save enough paychecks for a security deposit and first month's rent. Anything is possible! (although it's easier when you're 18 or 19) I think I'd camp out at the state park if I were homeless at this point.

Good luck!

LOL... you guys.... but the vote still goes to Old Git for tough times award, since she had her son with her... things you shrug off when your single are almost unbearable when you have to watch your kids suffer with you.

I know, it could be worse, which is why I'm rushing to batten down the hatches, and get into low maintenance mode as quickly as possible... something great could come through tomorrow, or it could be months.... either way, I'll be set.

Now for a hot soak and some sleep, as all those boxes I packed today require a lift tomorrow :)

No argument from me, Carl. OG wins this one hands down and deserves only the best at this point! Beckie is another poster who has lived through some tough times. We're not trying to one-up each other, Carl. Just showing you that you're not alone in your suffering.

Be careful lifting all those boxes and keep in mind that nothing horrible lasts forever.

SAR, I hope that you make it back online today! I share your fears in letting someone rip down the computer who does not replace hardware on a daily basis. Just as there are tricks in programming to make stubborn code work, there are tricks to configuring hardware, and I hope that Dan goes for expert help if he can't configure the new system in a timely fashion.

Carl, be sure you don't 'misplace' anything important while packing. Your very important papers and stuff should be handled with care, and stay as close to you as possible. You won't want to go thru everything in storage looking for something in an emergency.

Be safe. We're thinking good thoughts for you.

[Still haven't seen Philadelphia. may have to rent it, I think.]

There are some things I just cannot tell you guys! Here's something I can.

I hadn't ever worked in this country when No. 1 took off so I did what many fresh-off-the-boaters do--got a job as a waitress. That was 1969 and the pay was $1.40 an hour plus meager tips and all the food I could eat. (It was years before I could eat Italian food again.) I had to wear a mini and go-go boots but I had the figure for it when I was 23!

One of the customers befriended me, nice guy, drove an Eldorado, took me nice places along with my son and paid the babysitter. It was a few weeks before I realized he was a bagman for the mob and was collecting payoffs from several bars. Seriously! Frightened me to death; I moved and left no address. BTW, the rat-trap where I had been living burned three weeks later. Faulty wiring. (Nobody hurt.)

I've always led an interesting life--haven't meant to, it just happens that way.
