Dear John, St. Lawrence the Martyr is one of my most favorite saints. As child I was amazed at the story of his death and the facination has held on into adulthood. His love of God and his faith and sense of humor have been a guide to me always. To be roasted the way he was and then to tell the killers to turn him over to get done on the other side is more than I could ever imagine in the faith department. It's also good to know that the saints had a sense of humor too. You're not getting much response to the saint of the day posting but I wanted to let you know that I look at it every day. Bl. Hugh de Montaigu (French, Benedictine monk, bishop, d. 1136)
