My friends, I have some news that shouldn't surprise you. The ink on Bill Clinton's book deal has been dry for five months. The reason it wasn't announced then? It was signed during the pardon scandal.

This is just another version of the infamous Bill Clinton stroll at the Ron Brown memorial.

Words can only begin to describe what you really need to see with your own eyes. Here's Clinton, walking outside the church, laughing it up with Tony Campolo. Suddenly he spots a camera pointing at him, and within one half a step he goes from laughing raucously to crying and dabbing tears from his eyes. This piece of video is the best example in ten seconds of who Bill Clinton really is.

So we learn now that the book deal is five months old. He just didn't want to announce it because it would conflict with all the imagery he was trying to put out, all those sad tales of "Woe is Bill, he's out of office, out of money, he's got to go across the pond to give speeches because they're being cancelled in America." The press is portraying him walking aimlessly around his Chappaqua home with his dog Buddy. Woe is Bill. Woe is Bill. Meanwhile he's off signing a $12 million book deal behind closed doors.

I had predicted this earlier in the week, and at that time I had also wondered if Clinton might be able to get out of paying any taxes on the book deal because he works in Harlem, which is an enterprise zone. A friend of mine called and said the deal was probably run through the slush fund known as the Clinton library. My friend also made the bet that Clinton didn't have to pay his lawyer to negotiate the deal, guessing that the individual was probably paid on government time. Well, five months ago, that all looks even more possible, doesn't it?
