is it me or

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Poole's Roost II : One Thread

has Lusenet gone nuts? Seems the order of replies has flipped like Ed Yourdon in the hot noontime sun.

Code red?

Well, it's NOT you. I looked at that "What if we started a Y2k war" thread and saw quite a bit there. Then, I looked again and saw only what Charlie had last posted. TB [TK?]'s original post was GONE. THEN, I looked again later and it looked pretty much together again, so I responded. NOW, the last response is August 6. The rest of Lusenet is okay. I figure it was simply improper HTML [heh...on Charlie's part, of course.]

I take it all back [except the part about it isn't you.] I just looked at a thread at Unk's, and I KNOW I'd seen Cherri reply to a thread. Her post isn't there now.

Heh...perfect example here. My last post now proceeds my first.

And there's my post on that thread about Y2k...at the TOP...who woulda thunk it? [Retrain...retrain...maybe they're putting the newest stuff at the top.]

It's [apparently] fixed.

I was unable to get into the forum all day; this is the first access I've had since early this morning. Maybe Phil was working on it.

Poole:

Explanation from Lusenet Support:

What happened was that the LUSENET support added an option under the Administrator's page to select which order that answers should appear in, either reverse chrono (new answers on top), or not. I guess we'll leave it the way it is for now because it seems logical, but if there is overwhelming demand for reverse listing we can try it.

Here is the message at the top of the admin page:

09 August 01 - For Q&A forums, I added a new administrator option to control the order in which responses to questions are presented. Due to a mis-understanding on my part, this messed up thread presentation for a few hours today - but I think I've got everything back to normal now, plus forum administrators now have a new choice. If you want responses to be ordered differently than they are now, change the Answer order option (see the How Threads are Presented section, below).

Best Wishes,,,,,

Z

I like the Google choice of "I'm feeling lucky" personally. It is just so hopeful and all, so potentially positive, haha.

Put me down for that option if it becomes available.

BTW, a pretty good engine I have been using of late is surfwax.com Google.com is still the old stand-by, but for a change of pace, Surfwax is pretty kewl.
