Scanner/ Virtual densitometer

(This may be dumb so go easy on me)

Does anyone know of a software that would allow you to assign densities from a scan of a step wedge, and then from that default have your scanner become your densitometer since that's what it's sampling about 6,000,000 times anyway?

This question has been answered before in the forum. The software is photoshop. Use the eyedropper tool. The eyedropper measures transmitted light.

This only works if you can be sure that the scanner interface software doesn't make any automatic brightness or gamma adjustments. Try the stepwedge against both a light and a dark background to see if the eyedropper values remain the same.
