Flew down to London last week for the first time and the highlight of the trip was flying over SJP - fantastic!

Was it expensive / awkward to fly that trip, Steph? I'm getting tired of driving all the time.

I was staying with family in Surrey so flew to Gatwick. £100.50 return. I usually get the train but had missed out on the cheap fares and it would have cost nearly £90. Metro to Newcastle Airport from the Toon, flight took about 1 hour 20 mins and got collected at the other end. Definitely recommend it as best way to get to the smerk.

1hr 20 mins??? you're kidding?!?! don't BA fly up there in 45-50 mins? I've had return tickets off them for 91 quid.....

Gav, I don't think the flight actually took that long but we seemed to sit on the runway for ages. Still a heck of a lot quicker than the train. How do you get cheap tix? I tried loads of websites and £100.50 seemed to be pretty standard.

Wor lass is thinking of coming down to London one way, but it's a weekend deal. Best I can find is £152. I guess getting to Heathrow is more expensive. Gatwick just isn't worth the agro and extra travel cost. Which web sites you seen?

Last time I flew to H'row from Toon was £280!! But that was the red-eye business special. Captive market. If I had gone on the 10:10 (or whatever) it would have been £78 return. Both are BA. The bookings were done by Carlson Wagon Wheels.

I book directly with BA at Heathrow....can't remember the number of the top of my head...

Bobby, check here and go to Special Offers, scroll right down to get the fares. I contacted BA about a week beforehand and booked over the 'phone.
