Enjoy your hols, PB! Where are you off to?

Thanks Ciara.

Going to Skiathos in the Sporades, whatever Greek island group that is. In two minds about it, we normally take organised walking holidays, so it's donkey's years since we've gone completely unorganised.

It'll probably be two weeks of beer and beach, with the odd boat trip thrown in. Steph's been and has recommended hiring a jeep or something, so that might be good for a few days.

Think we'll probably just go where we're pointed.

Have a great time marra - I'll see yer when yer retorn. We're off on wor holly's on monday too - timed to perfection to be back for the now cancelled Leicester game. Bloody typical!

Watch oot fer those "Greek beetches" mind! ;-{)

Unorganized trips are the best ones, PB. Unless they're supposed to be organized, but the tour operator is unorganized of course. ;-)

And where are you off to, Clarky? Have a great time!

We're off to Madiera ciara - just for a week.
I've been there once to a business conference - nice place.

Direct flight from NCL increased the attractiveness - especially after the 700 mile round trip drive to Troyes (most of which Screacher drove).

Er Clarky. You must have been asleep most of the time. It was 700 miles each way. Enjoy yer jollies PB and Clarky (and yer missusses)

Actually, I think I was 'asleep' most of the way, Screach - "g force blood deficit" I think they call it! ;-{)

Bring us back a bottle of wine and a bit a cake clarky!!

If we survive the landing at Funchal Airport I'll do that Gus. It is possibly the scariest landing anywhere.

Madiera is basically just a big volcanic rock sticking straight out of the Atlantic. The Airport runway is built out into the sea on stilts as there is no flat land abutting the sea. The planes fly straight at the mountains and at the last minute do a steep, falling 90 deg turn, with strong intermittent gusts of wind from the various ravines making it particularly "interesting".

Can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to it!

No news, nothing toon related happening, this place is still an good read just not as often.

-- Anonymous, August 10, 2001

Well, it is still close season (despite our European jaunts) and a lot of the regular contributors are away on their joilies (Galaxy for one) and DeB has finally found some proper work to do.

I'm sure this place will pick up again once the season starts for real.

-- Anonymous, August 10, 2001

Aye, I suppose your both right.
Still by far the best, even in the dead season.

Oh lordy, Clarky. That landing in Funchal sounds terrifying! Hope they serve plenty of Madeira on the flight(to the passengers not the crew before some smart@rse Screach or Gus say anything ;-)) ). Seems the only way to deal with it. 8-o
