I struggle to understand Griffin not playing at right back, but Lee playing in midfield is just plain nonsense, make Saturday the last please

Bassedas, Griffin, Gavilan and Lua Lua should be played against Athletic Bilbao in the Rob Lee Testimonial and much more regularly in the first team, give them a chance.

I bet you anything Rob Lee is playing again on Saturday, pah

Not to name any names(of players who shouldn't play) but I thought we should have played a more attacking oriented midfield last night. By playing five defenders we should have at least have an attack oriented midfield to force Troyes to play from deep instead of camping out in our half. Hopefully that gets remedied in the second leg but have the distinct feeling it won't happen.

The thing is, there is a lot of praise in the press for Lee for his battling performance etc but, honestly, every time I went back to the radio, Lee had made a great run, only to be too far off the pace to actually get the ball. I can't wait for the Three MagpieTeers to come back for their view.

I'm a little too tired right now to post much, but imo Lee, Given and Shola were our best players last night. The wide m/f players - Quinn & Solano - were totally ineffective, leaving Lee & Speed with a mountain to climb against a very lively and capable Troyes midfield.

You all know I'm biased with Rob Lee, but I thought he was IMMENSE last night, and one of the main reasons we are still in the tie with a chance. Still our best central midfield player, by some distance.

BTW - don't believe any press (or superkev) baloney about Troyes being a small-town team of part-timers. They are all full-time pros, playing for a team who finished high in the French League last season, with an excellent Coach - and last night looked a very useful team who played some really good football. Credit where credit's due.

superkev) baloney about Troyes

Clarky, please don't be too hard on Superkev. Obviously, he doesn't know a great deal about Europe and has never had any chance to learn. :-)
