Planet of the Peter Reids

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Watched Planet of the Peter Reids yesterday. It shows us how horrible the world would be if the Mackems lead by General Tha...Reid took over the world. *shrudder*

Anyone else seen it?

Answers

obsessed, even though you like to pretend otherwise.

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

let me get this right....

you spend your own hard earned cash and take your own leisure time to go and see a movie that you fancy watching and then spend your time thinking about mackems, SAFC and peter reid....

obsessed or what???? that is really worrying....

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

It appears to me that there are more Mackems reading and contributing to the BBS than Mags. Why? Is theirs so bad? Is ours so good? Or do they just want some intelligent conversation for once?

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

Well, it's hard not to think about Peter Reid when you see a whole movie about him and his fellas.

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

I see deflation has set in, it was 15-0 yesterday

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

Obsessed? who's on whose BB here? Question for Mags; does anyone know anyone that predicted a 13-0 last time we played Sewpa Soonlun?

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

i only read/contribute because its actually quite a good BBS covering other footy stuff apart from NUFC and I don't mind reading about whats going on at your club...

I'm also on RTG as well but thats a different type of board... not prone to great debates, if you get my drift... but RTG is a great board as well...

if you think that makes me obsessed then so be it.... but you are missing the point (deliberately methinks).....

If I went to see "Grumpy Old Men" or "Wall Street" or some other film I would hardly spend my time thinking of Booby or Douggy....

To disprove your accusation of obsession I shall post no more....

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

Na Roly, I'm with you.

I like to have the occassional view of what's on RTG just to see what's of interest to you. I guess you view this board in the same way.

Just as you'll get the same comments about "Compo" on RTG all the time then you'll get the same monkey commenst on here. Do you remember who first coined the Compo monicker on RTG ? It was around the time you first started posting on there and no one would believe you were for real.

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

christ good question.....

i strated posting literally about two years ago.... and from memory it was either Alien or BiG.... Alien methinks.....

twas a laugh anyway.....

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

Come on Roly man - as far as us mags are concerned any reference to Monkeys, Baboons or - in this case - Apes, had become synonymous with your esteemed leader. That's not obsession, it's fact. Show a mag, any mag, a picture of a Chimp and ask the first thing that comes into his head, we all know what the answer will be ;-)

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

If he didn't have a f**king monkey's heed I doubt the problem would ever arise.

What was 'PPR' like, Sudden? Was it a dubbed version?

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

Is the film any good Sudden?
It isn't release in England for a little wee while.

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

Nah Roly neither of them, keep trying !!

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

A review I heard said that if you were into the original Planets then you'd love this, if you thought the originals were silly then you'd think this was silly

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

wasnt me was it?????

give up cant remember......

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

Mac - aye, but doesn't the girl talk in this one...and wears far more than the bootylicious (sorry) lass in the original. FHM refer to her as the perfect woman. Looks great, wears little, doesn't talk.

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

I kind of liked the first movie and also liked this one. It's almost nothing like the first one but rather good anyway. Not so "american" if you know what I mean. No not dubbed, we dont do that here i Sweden (thank god!).

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

Sorry Roly, but as sad as it is, the Compo label came from me :0)

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

i nearly said that but thought better.... in that .... naaahhhh cant be.... kind of way that you do...

poor old compo is dead now.... maybe it was the thought of being compared to pissypants that sent him on his way....

anywaysup gannin for lunch....

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

I see there are half a dozen planet of the apes threads on RTG today. Strange as none of you ever goes there...allegedly.

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

ML3, how do you know that any of the "alleged" posts are made from people on this bbs? isn't that kind of broad and ambiguous? If you have proof then fine, but divvent make such a sweeping statement and excpect nowt in return;)

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

I said nothing of the sort. I "implied" it and got a solitary bite for my troubles

Allez les Troyes and all that. Toodle pip :¬>

ml

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

Wouldn't have expected any makems to be interested in the Troyes game what with it being both in Europe and a cup game ?

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

yes it is "in" europe and it is a "cup" game.... how observant.... up there with your Fairs Cup Win eh????

snigger

enjoy

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

Welllllllllll that would be one more fairs cup win than you lot though wouldn't it??

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

However when i mention Compos age i get labelled ageist?????????? Double standards ahoy sir!!!!

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

Kev we're all apiarists on here, and I've a bee in my bonnet about it

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

Roly, I truly view the Intertoto as just another pre-season except there may be a big plus at the end of it, if we lose next week then okay, if we get through great, I'd happily lose 13-0 next week (as one of your pals would suggest) and beat you lot 1-0. I'd obviously rather have both and I have to say I adore European football, all our games have been special, just so different from the run of the mill stuff.

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

The Intertoto must rate alongside / underneath the League Cup for derision, and yet it does offer European glory at the end...so it is a pre-season set of games, but there's enough competitiveness (near the finish anyway) to make it worth taking seriously.

If we don't make UEFA at the end of the month it will still have been a worthwhile exercise.

-- Anonymous, August 08, 2001

.... a worthwhile exercise ..... and a few quid in the bank as well.

Did the Mackems get any gate receipts from Torquay. Were there any gate receipts at Torquay? Was there a gate at Torquay?

-- Anonymous, August 08, 2001

see Judas kept you in it last night eh?

what result next week??? and something about having to play two games in three days re the worthington cup as well if you get through....

some very tired legs for you guys???

-- Anonymous, August 08, 2001

but its okay Roly, the tired legs don't set in until February apparently

-- Anonymous, August 08, 2001

I hope we don't have to play on the Tuesday, but I don't expect any favours from UEFA or Troyes (who have to agree!). 600 miles and 180 mins of competitive football in 72 hours. Be some achievement if we managed to win either. Thing is, would you give us credit Roly?

-- Anonymous, August 08, 2001

UEFA denied the switch, so we have to play on the Tues. But we'll either lose or draw at Chelsea anyway(London, televised, Sky, etc), so might as well take it easy and get ourselves into Europe on Tuesday. ;-)

-- Anonymous, August 08, 2001

According to Yesterday press Ciara we haven't even APPLIED for a switch yet never mind had it rejected....dunno how true that is of course...

-- Anonymous, August 08, 2001

Gav we originally applied to have the return leg put back 24hrs when the dates were first announced.

I do not know if the article is referring to this application, which was rejected, or a new one!

-- Anonymous, August 08, 2001

Gus, the article I saw yesterday was UEFA stating the we had NEVER applied to have the match put back AT ALL....
