One of the Londonmags looking for a largish favour

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Due to a cock-up with my application for englandfans (the scheme which replaces the now defunct England Members Club) I'm not able to get a ticket for the Germany v England world cup qualifier in Munich on Saturday 01 September 2001. This is despite having 3 "caps" for attending 3 out the last 4 England away games (France, Finland, and Greece - I missed Albania) but my application got in late so the nice people at the FA are sticking to the letter or their rules.

I've got flights and accommodation for Munich but no ticket so here's the plea: is anyone on this list or known to anyone on this list (a) a member of englandfans, (b) qualified to buy a ticket for Germany v England, (c) unable to go to Germany v England, (d) prepared to buy a ticket and sell it on to me? If so please contact me asap off-list or by phone/text on 07970 449 708.

I'm a bona fide fan - Nick Selby Turk on Londomags can vouch for that - and under the EMC scheme I was in or close to the top 1,000 for games attended.

Thanks in anticipation Steve PARISH

Nick, I am qualified to apply and know your name off the LondonMags list. I'll apply but I obviously can't promise that I'll get one.

If you're stuck e-bay.co.uk have a shedload of them for sale. You might have to pay a bit more than expected, but it how much, depends on how keen you are to see the game.

I've got a spare at the moment that i bought off e-bay in case i didn't qualify through only having one cap. Was lucky and got in the 70% allocation. Only snag is it's £110 (price i got it for) and in main stand (one with glass roof). There will be, however, at least one geordie next to you or possibly two depending on travel arrangements. Drop me an e-mail if you want it. Stu

Panic over - see below - thanks everyone.

Panic is over for me. I appealed to the FA's sense of fair play and have just had a phone call to tell me I've been allocated a ticket. Thanks to everyone for their efforts.

The following is for the repliers on Greenspun:

To Dave SMITH (who copied and posted my request onto Greenspun): Thanks.

To dougal09@hotmail.com: If you get a ticket from the FA I know over several long-standing England fans for whom the FA have cocked-up the application procedure and would be happy to cover your costs. Let me know your progress.

To Stu BAISTER (who texted me this morning): £110 is way out of my budget but thanks anyway.

To Mick Greenwell: E-bay prices are out of my league.

Thanks once again to one and all for thinking of me.

Howay The Lads the neet!
