Time to start thinking football again

Now that Korey has been laid to rest, mind you long after he walked with his Valkyrie, it is time to start thinking about what this will mean to the team. How will they cope with his loss? Will they rally? Will they fall apart? Will Liewinski be able to handle his business as a Right Tackle? Will the money that has been tragically added to the teams coffers be spent wisely, or at all for that matter?

I am not certain who is left out there as a Veteran Offensive Lineman, but I would assume one needs to be brought in. What about Cortez Kennedy, can we now afford to offer him a bit more and get him aboard? Dale Carter is still suspended, but if he is ever reinstated, can we now outbid the Raiders who were reportedly ready to court him as well? Could we now possibly afford BOTH Hasty and Carter?

Is the missed practice going to hurt this team? Is Randy Moss going to be on a mission? Is David Dixon going to step up and lead the offensive line as the lone grizzled vet? Is Harold Morrow going to rush for 1,000 yards and score 25 TD's?

I know that Korey Stringer will not be forgotten, that can never be. In fact I would like to propose that if the citizens of Minnesota are going to kick down for a new stadium, that they demand it be named after Big K, and that the naming rights be forever banned from changing it. Korey Stringer Memorial Stadium has a nice ring to it.

I just hope that the Vikings can focus, because an unfocused player can get hurt in this game, and that is the last thing this team needs.

I agree about the unfocuded part. This N.O. game worries me I hope nobody gets hurt.Maybe they will be extra focused when the season starts,as bad as this seems to effect Moss hopefully he will play extra hard on each play as the Vikes try to win it all for Korey.I was wondering but afraid to sound heartless but how did this effect the cap?

I've read bits here and there where we lose the signing bonus money that has already been paid, but we regain the base salary, which I believe was in the 5 million range for this season. That should put us way the heck under the cap.

I don't think dealing with issues such as this is heartless, it's just the nature of the beast. It's a business, and a competition, neither lend themselves to straying from the plan for too long. I was thinking today that the Vikes should have probably designated someone to tend to the business of the team through all of this. As callous as that sounds, in the long run it would have benefited everyone.

I don't expect us to Win Saturday after all this. We just haven;t had the preparation. As long as we stay healthy i'll be happy. We probably will pick up an OL after some teams start to cut players, but if we do have some extra money we still need another pas russher and a CB or TWO. GO VIKES!!!!!

Quite frankly, I wouldn't worry about the preseason at all. The team will need time to regain their focus and hopefully pick up some new players to fit the needs. Come September they should be over the hurdle and ready to avenge their loss. GO VIKES!!!!!!!! Jan Z
