9 am in the morning and its already 86 degrees, 76% humidity. High around 90.

Did I mention that our a/c broke yesterday?

Gee, Barefoot, that's what we'll have all week.

Besides, I thought you'd be catching the tail end of Barry with your snorkels.

That ended Sunday. We're in a drying trend now.

still stinkin hot, humid, here...the ac runs but doesn't feel much cooler. only the lower level stays comfy. we sleep on a day bed down here. the upstairs is so hot it is not worth trying to cool down!

Sure hope you get the AC fixed soon mailman.

Not too bad, I suppose, around 90, 70 at night. Humid, though.

It's not too bad here! The temps are in the mid-80s, but it feels to me like the humidity has dropped off significantly. SAR, how's the insullation on your house? Have you cleaned/serviced your a/c recently?

2 PM and the heat index is 107 degrees.

Current temp is 92, humidity is 62%.

I'm melting!

No A/C guys yet.

Ok, It is currently 91 with 63% humidity and a heat index of 104 and is supposed to get higher yet - there is a heat advisory saying to expect up to a heat index of 110. I left Phoenix for this??? Some days I wonder about it.

Be of good cheer, Beckie! one of our local weather guys pointed out that it's less than 100 days before snow arrives.

530 PM and no A/C guys. Temp 89 and heat index 102.

Theoffice can't tell me when the guys will get here. I'll leave the door unlocked in case I am too weak to get up...

Oh, the moon phase is 94% and there ain't a storm anywhere in Dade County. nada, zip, zero. I was hoping at least to have the storm clouds block the sun this afternoon.

Who is running this planet anyway?

Wind E at 6, gusts to 17. gusts? At that rate it's more like a bird fart.

Just checked, it's 66 degrees here, few little clouds here and there, nice breeze coming in off the ocean....

Least I got that :)

6:11 PM and no A/C guys.

gggrrrrrrrrrrr

-- Anonymous, August 06, 2001

Have you gone out for ice cream, yet?

-- Anonymous, August 06, 2001

Well, if it's that late, doubt the repairman is going to show up... head to the nearest pub with a/c, leave a note for him just in case telling you'll buy him a couple if he comes over to the bar and gets you... matter of fact, he's probably belly up to the bar right now bragging about how much money he made today...

Well, it's 7:45 PM. No A/C guys. Ain't using them no more.

We replaced the thermostat. It had a finicky switch on it anyway. haha

Replaced it [49.99 programmable] with an 11 dollar cheapy model. The a/c ran longer than it ever had before, but the fuses were still getting hotter.

We re-opened the air handler again, just to look and see if we could see something that wasn't right. Also to check the coils and see if they were getting cooler. They were.

then we started fiddling with the wires, and voila! sparks!!! Seems one wire was resting on a connection and over time had heated to the point that the insulation melted, which caused it to make a connection that shouldn't have been made. can't say for sure, but I think it was causing the heat strips to run as well as the compressor. That's bad.

It's been eight minutes, and we can feel the difference already.

Oh, did I mention that the A/C guys haven't shown up yet? And no one called to say they would be late, or not coming. fuck them! I'll never use them again. I'll also let my firend know what happened and he can bitch about it to them as well. That kind of service deserves bad press. I'll call BBB tomorrow.

And here I was willing to pay whatever it was for them to fix it. they could have gotten who knows how much for such an easy job.

Course it could still break down again. LOL

so far so good. 8:52 pm and the air hasn't blown a fuse. Feels mucho bettero in here.

Why did I bother to vacuum? LOL

going to go take a nice long shower...

83 in here, and dropping steadily. 85 and humid outside.

How did anyone ever cope with weather like this? LOL

Barefoot, I don't recall, are you in Archy McNally territory? (Lawrence Sanders) Archy was pretty quick to admit, it's the heat ANDDDD the humidity!

-- Anonymous, August 06, 2001

We're in Mahahmee Floreeda, dear.

-- Anonymous, August 07, 2001

Of course now I'm forgetting my Sanders, but I think he based Archy in the West Palm Beach area. To us northerners, all about the same. Too d*mn hot!

Here today, it is only supposed to get into the low 90's. Happy Days are here again, even if it lasts for only one day. They also said there was a slight chance we would get some rain! Wondering if I should do my rain dance?

For the past I don't know how long, we've been at temps of between 101-107. No telling what the heat index was. It was terrible.

Someone asked me when I thought it would end, and I predicted October 23rd. Hope I'm wrong. :)
