Ah that's cool. Exciting to see what new game they are making, it will be revealed at ECTS in London 2-4 september. I played a lot of Starcraft and also quite a lot of Warcraft I & II. Not so much Diablo I tho. So how did it go yesterday?

Yup I'd heard about the new game announcement....it'll be interesting to see what it is....still once they've announced it we've got to wait for it and Blizz are CRAP with release dates :))

Yesterday went fine....there are a load of bugs in the latest patch 1.08 which will hopefully be sorted in 1.09 but it's a pain constantly waiting for patches....

Ya heard it was a lot of the in 1.08. Ya, release dates and Blizzard dont match. LoD was the first game the released when they said they should. Thought for a while Warcraft III really should come out in deceber but of course not...

Warcraft should be cool when it's out....i might stop playing Diablo for awhile to give it a look :))

Whatever happened to Paradroid and Defender?

-- Anonymous, August 06, 2001

I might even stop playing Champ. Man for awhile also when War 3 is out. =)

What and what Bobby?

Defender was a great game...never heard of Paradroid mind :)) he's talking about really old arcade games sudden :))

Paradroid was an old Commadore64 game (yes, I still have my machine and games...pass the anorak). You would have to work your way through a ship full of rogue droids on different levels of the ship. The clever bit was that you were doing this 'remotely' and the you used a parasitic host to 'take over' the bad robots. There was a game inside the game, because you had to win over each robot - kind of like fighting for an upgrade. Each robot had an ID card you could check out, like a biog, weapons, propulsion system etc. Very absorbing, very good.

Better than Beach Head too :-)

Favourite acarde games? Defender was class above, as was Galaga (not the wee Jock terrier, or Oasis version). Quite enjoyed Star Wars too and Paperboy.

Ah Paperboy! Fun!

I was a paperboy once. Bloody cold in the winter. Can I join this clique (or even cliche)?

Bobby, you can download a C64 emulator for the pc and Paradroid (amongst others) from lots of places e.g. http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Pressbox/7688/c64/c64.html

Did you ever ask for a couple of bags of Tudor out of your wages?

Bobby - I often relive a wet afternoon down the nudgies with www.shockwave.com. They've got remakes of Defender, Joust, Robotron and Pacman. Top stuff (IMHO).

I have the original "Space Invaders" sitting here on my desktop at home for when the conversations turn to makems.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of that interesting table tennis game?

MAME32 is a great arcade emulator and allows you to play the original versions of Defender, Galaxians, Moon Cresta, Scramble and many others.

Check out the Classic Gaming website http://www.classicgaming.com/
