O.K I am not so sharp!! in understanding lenses;but can anyone annswer this question? I appreciate that a lens projects a round image. I also appreciate that Barrel distortion ( ) is equal on both sides of a image. Pincushion distortion is also equal on both sides of a image. What of wavey line or moustache distortion which shows up at the bottom of a image but not the top? I have read of wavey line distortion & seen examples of it on the Nikonians site. Barrel & picushion distortion are present because of lens design.(for better or worse) Is wavey line distortion because of a lens manufacturing fault?
