How do you get to Carnegie Hall?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MATH Plus One : One Thread

Anything in your life that you still are dedicated enough to "Practice, practice, practice?"

I'm learning to play the guitar, and in my unemployed condition, I have been playing every day.

Many of us keep journals in part, I assume, to practice writing (in which case, I am never going to get to Carnegie Hall, or anywhere else, since I update so infrequently).

Anybody still run scales every day? Or go to the basketball court?

Inspire me. My fingers hurt. And I still can't play any songs with F in them.

Clearly, the rest of us are slackers.

I took guitar lessons for a few weeks. I had to quit because I never practiced. I just wanna know already.

Wait - you were looking for inspiration. Uh - I believe in you?

I'm just going to ignore that little "can't play F" comment, as I showed you how to play the fool thing. I show you in TWO ways, even!

When you're down/And troubled/And you need someone who cares...Your guitar is your friend...

What? Isn't that inspirational? And it came from Master V, the guitar master.

I do my little drawings everyday even though I know I suck ass.

Does practicing Snood every day count?

I know, AB, you showed me in two ways. So did the MOC. But... it's like I don't have enough fingers, or something. I caiiiinnn't.

Slickery, the drawings count. Snood? No.

Shae, you don't listen to her. Snood does too count. And I bet your drawings are better than my paintings.

I have actually been practicing scales on the piano lately. Do not ask me why, as I have no answer. But it's sort of cool that I remember all that stuff.

See, I've been practicing minigolf diligently, and I just beat my co-worker for the first time. Awww, yeah.

F does hurt. I hate that damn note.

I get frustrated doing anything that I don't do well, and I'm trying to get better at practicing my pool shots. I don't think Carnegie will accept me, though, even if they start calling me Fats Robyn. If any of you call me Fats Robyn, I will cry.

But I'm trying to practice my guitar more. Al, write your own songs. They are SO much more fun to play than "Leaving on a Jet Plane" over and over. And the only song I can sing along to so far is "Take it Easy" because it's really (ahem) easy, but being able to sing along makes me want to learn more.

And dress up in your rock star outfits when you practice. That inspires me.
