Rick Springfield Breaks Arm During Show

Singer Fell From Beam In Front Of Audience

LAS VEGAS, 12:22 p.m. EDT August 2, 2001 -- It wasn't just a bit of acting – actor and singer Rick Springfield really broke his arm during his "EFX Alive" show Wednesday in Las Vegas.

A spokeswoman for the MGM Grand says "Springfield was on a 20-foot high beam that lowers him to the stage when he fell 10 to 15 feet as the audience watched."

Springfield was taken to a hospital where he was treated and released. His understudy is taking over for him this week.

The show is on a break next week.
