Well Celtic asked the punters for another share issue to raise £27 million, failing miserably until the "Irish Mafia" moved in , the main man Dermot Desmond led the way with 10 mill(London Airport must be paying) , followed by Thomas Lynch exc dep chairman of Elan Corp with 2 mill, matched by Martin O Neil the manager with 2 mill of his own , Then came Eddie Jordan , Denis o Brian, Pearse Flynn with 1 mill, the board of directors scraped together 230,000 notes , total was I think £22 mill , so that tells you what Joe Public coughed up , Does that mean the power base for Celtic becomes more firmly entrenched ower the watta ? O.Neils investment is the day`s top story.

similar to Reidy's £2M investment in SAFC Plc now worth about £3M.... he started investing in SAFC in 1996 when we were still at Roker with nothing but a promise to go on.... he may have been mad but he had belief in SAFC...

O'Neill's investment in Celtic is both excellent business and aligns his interests in the football club....

more and more players will be rewarded also with share options and share grants as part of their packages so that it the club loses financially they dont get as much.... (they will always gets something!!!)....

How many shares does Robson have in NUFC Plc then?????

They are an extremely cheap recover play by the way!!!.... apologies to anyone who got in when the club floated.....

While I'm not completely certain Roly, I believe Reidy was given share options in the Club pre-flotation, which will have appreciated very considerably. This was done specifically to tie him to the Club, and was a very smart move by Burb Murray - something The Toon should have done with KK, instead of frightening him away with contractual ultimatums. However, I don't believe this was necessarily indicative of any great investment judgement on Peyter's part.

Regarding his recent share purchase, are you sure these were purchased in the market at full price, as distinct from exercising options?

paying players in options is interesting.prp.

he paid £300,000 for the first tranche of his stake pre-flotation in 1996.... I'd have to check the accounts to see if he has options now but he didn't then.... in any event the logistics and legalities of the flotation would have prevented share options being issued in a privately held company that was going to be bought by a newly formed Plc..... what happened was that after he made his investment his shares were convereted (as per all shareholders) into Plc shares....
