Something I never really understood about Sunderland fans was the way they liked to mock Newcastle spending money on foriegners and then complain when Reid didn't spend money, and then celebrate when he spent it on foriegners.

I'm not up to date with all the Sunderland signings but I can only think of Schwarz and Arca as being proven successes from those bought form abroad. Schwarz had already shown he could play in England so really it's down to Arca. Is there a nervousness around the signings of Leslandes and Haas ? They haven't been signed from top tier clubs and they feel more like our signing of Bellamy than our signing of Robert.

Well just the odd email, phone calls to your mobile, a text message, phone calls to your chateau in Consett, a message left with someone at your house, and so on. No special effort really, although a detective examining my phone records would quickly deduce that I'm a stalker! I could have tried snailmail and if you let me know your fax number that's another avenue I could have tried.

Tell me do you have CB radio or are you able to understand semaphore at all?

Fair point MacBeth, his record is not great on overseas signings (although it more than stands up to Newcastle's). He has signed as much top-talent as dross: Sorensen, Roy, Makin, Dichio and Johnston, all bought from overseas, all reasonably successful in their time at SAFC.

Dougal, what game at Consett? The squad were in Devon, so presumably the U19s? If I'd known about it, I would have gone.
