Has *NSync NLost it, or did I just not give the new album enough of a chance?

Did you hear Justin trying to explain how the numbers for their third release are comparable to the record breaking sales of No Strings Attached because of the economy?

Uh-huh. Whatever, Justin Timberlake.

Is it really that bad?

Now I have this picture of Justin Timberlake crossed with Alan Greenspan holding a big chart and talking about inflation in my head. Thanks a lot.

Next AJ McLean, aka Big Drunk AJ, will start talking about how the fans helped him buy that homemade beer from the guy in the truck, because Black and Blue didn't sell well. "My cut was barely enough for some Rolling Rock! What was I supposed to do? Stupid fans." Those boyband members are GREAT. (BTW, new poster, I know, I'm stupid)

I know we're supposed to be talking about *NStink, but what's up with AJ McLean looking like he's 35 years old? Sorry to pick on the kid when he's down, but come on...that hair, those tattoos, the scary moustache that defies logic. He makes my eyes bleed.

He's no Joey Fatone (snerk).

It was JC, not Justin, with the mad industry analysis.

I wonder if the nurses will let him borrow their eyeliner to draw on the 'stache each morning, as he wakes from a dream with the sound track of little girls crying and bottles clinking. I'm awful. But NSYNC, NSYNC, they are great. Guilty Pleasure. How can you not make fun of them and yet want to pat their little gelled heads all at the same time. Oh, and JC said that? Right up there with his Hot Dog Stand/Napster theory.

And I only know about the hot dog/napster theory because I happened to catch them on the today show. I watch only for Al Roker goodness. Or not. But you know.

Damn you morning zoo!

I am very curious about the Hot Dog Stand/Napster theory.

Please share with the group.

Yes, yes, please tell.

Oh dudettes, here's the info.

JC and the rest of the boy wonders were on the Today show, or GMA, one of the two. And the whole "Would you rather let your fans have free music, or do you wanna be Lar's bitches for the rest of your life?" debate came up. JC, who's like that kid we all knew in Highschool who would try and compare his shoe to Shakespeare, decided he was going to share some of his smarts with the rest of the world.

And out comes this long schpiel about Hot dog stands. And how everyone wants a hot dog but not everyone can have a hot dog unless they pay. But no one wants to pay, they just want their hot dogs. So Napster is giving away hotdogs but what about the people who MAKE the hotdogs, where do they get their share? And the hot dog stand really isn't to blame, because it's just giving the people what they want, free hot dogs, but then you've got the whole "Who's paying for all these hot dogs?" question. And so in the end everyone is f-ed up, because people have free hot dogs and no money. Except JC added a whole lotta "Um"s, and "You know, like..."'s to the whole story. For that F-L-A-V-A that I guess he picked up back when he was an MMC ho, or something.

It was crazy fun times, early in the morning with Mr. Hot dog.

My favorite part of MMC was when they would throw in some mad rap skillz during the closing song.

Said who's in da house?
MMC's in da house!
Oh yeah!
Go Mickey go Mickey GO!

Good times.

You know it got rough on those backlots at DisneyWorld/Universal/Walt's Land of Pre-teen fun. Mini-rumbles, scrunchies being stolen from wardrobe, sniffing white-out before they had to go do those skits about "Stink-O-Meters", or introduce the MMC hall of famer. I'm still waiting for a "Behind the Music: MMC".

Girl, I am DYING to know what happened to the creepy older guy with white hair.

Albino Man gave me many nightmares.

Two words:

Jack in the box.

Some more words:

3-6 A.M. shift.

Just in time for the truckers.

No, last I heard he was in rehab. Oh, wait, big drunk AJ. Got them mixed up. No, I have no idea. I think he's just laying low. Waiting for the next group of kids who want to wear MMC lettermans jackets and later star on sitcoms or become boybands.

Universal dream.

So is JC the Dawson Leery of *NSYNC? God, I hope not.

-- Anonymous, August 01, 2001

Well, with that crazy hair trying to cover up his huge forehead, we may have a winner.

-- Anonymous, August 01, 2001

His hair boasts wings now.

Ew.

sales, pails. justin is lookin good with his adult, short hair. that's all i'm saying.

-- Anonymous, August 01, 2001

On Justin's hair: agreed. Long & curly = head o'noodles. Short & curly = rowr.

As for JC, the boy clearly needs a speechwriter, but mark my words, he and Justin will be the only ones with careers as highly successful hack songwriters & producing svengalis when the entire Teen Pop Industry lies in shambles.

I've only heard one song off of Celebrity, but I'm hankering after the whole thing.

The new album is OK. There's a couple of decent songs but it's no No Strings Attached. I can tell you that they are best in concert though. And even I, boy band detractor that I am, fell head over heels for short-haired Justin.

-- Anonymous, August 01, 2001

Justin is like the opposite of Samson from the Bible. You cut off his hair, and he becomes even more powerful. God, I'm a dirty old woman.

-- Anonymous, August 01, 2001

I heard on the news tonight (Access Hollywood, mind you) that the boys landed at #1 on the Billboard charts with 1.9 million albums sold.

-- Anonymous, August 01, 2001

Their show? Incredible. But I think my guess that this is their last hurrah is probably on the money, as they closed with Bye, Bye, Bye. It can't be a good sign when you encore with the biggest hit off your LAST album and close your new album's tour with the encore from your last tour. But still. They put on an amazing show, resplendent with bells and whistles.
