Shearer interview

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

It was on Goffie in the Morning yesterday and is widely talked about in today's papers: as far as he is concerned, there are no plans for him to manage NUFC, he doesn't think the InterToto was a good idea and can see where the Makems are coming from in declining the competition, he has no plans to join Keegan at Maine Road despite persistent rumours...

Actaully, in the interview, he sounded as miserable as sin depsite having Rob Lee at his side..

He was on the local news yesterday. Seemed really p*ssed off that the team were playing in Europe and he was stuck on the sidelines.

Does anyone else get the impression that wor Al has a massive ego?

But I suppose that can be absorbed in the context of one of the worlds most massive clubs. Not doing badly in the Inter-toto either, mind.

Did he give a reason as to why the inter toto was a bad idea? The £1.5m gate receipts, the good chance of UEFA place.

He can hardly complain that it eats into pre-season training didn't he moan adnout Gullit's fittness training being too hard.

Maybe Shearer thinks that Newcastle shouldn't exist without him in the team.

Refreshing to see him speak his mind for a change. Time was when he would sit there and refer to himself in the third person (scary) and say absolutely nothing at all "So long as someone scores then Alan Shearer will be happy". He reckons that only the end will justify the means with the Inter Toto: if we don't get into the UEFA then it will have shagged players out for nothing. I don't agree with him but am glad he isn't evading the question.

Just proving he will be no pushover when he takes over from Bobby. Prepare to see the end of 'sitting on the fence' Alan.

As long as he doesn't assume he'll get straight back into the side should we qualify for the Intertoto..

Who you trying to kid? If Shearer is fit he'll be straight back in the starting XI. I reckon his more candid disclosures are lifted from Rob Lee.
