MAGPIES BRANCHING OUT TO FAR EAST

Newcastle United are delighted to announce that its first two televised Sunday afternoon matches, against Chelsea on 19 August (Pay per View) and Sunderland on 26 August (Sky Sports) will be broadcast live on ESPN/Star TV. This is terrific news for United's international supporters with the 'reach' being from Northern Australia to as far as Korea/India/Pakistan as well as covering the whole of China and Japan. Carole Beverley, United's Director of Commercial Affairs said:

"Football in Asia is enjoying explosive growth and is establishing itself as the No. 1 sport in a number of key, traditionally non football countries.

"Developing and promoting Newcastle United in overseas territories is a primary objective for the Club given the increased TV coverage of the Premier League.

"ESPN Star TV was recently awarded the Pan Asia rights from 2001 - 2004 and anticipated audiences in excess of 100m are a welcome boost to our viewing figures. This is a major breakthrough and we will continue to work with rights holders to increase our awareness in this marketplace."

...that must be why 99.99% of asians are walking around with Manure or Scouse replica tops; Manure has 2 massive retail outlets in Singapore alone - one being at the airport, where numerous Oz flights stopover :-(

Not to worry Sting and Nick.

Foxtel will be showing the normal Saturday night, Sunday and Monday games as well as the ppv games, all FREE so all the pubs that showed the games last season probably will this season.

At last count we will have a game on every night for 6 nights.

I have yet to explain the week off I am having to Mrs gus!
