90mm Noctilux ???greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread |
I just noticed this item on E-Bay. The item number is 1260360794 and you can see it at:-http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1260360794
It is a Leica 90mm f1.0 lens!
Does anyone know any history for this lens?

Doesn't look like a 35mm camera lens, and at 8 pounds would have to be the heaviest 90mm lens in the world. The Canadian plant did make made types of lenses for military and commercial use.

I also noticed there doesn't seem to be any aperture inside, or focusing.

Can you imagine the depth of field on this lens (or lack of it)?

I did not look at the auction but there was a M mount 90/1 built for the US Navy. It was a focused by using different extension tubes. There were three which allowed focusing at 50 metres, 100 metres and infinity. It had an aperture contol however. There was also a 90/1 made for an X-ray machine...Pickering perhaps??source: Lager

However, reading the auction notes, this is the X-ray machine lens - still, you can BUY IT NOW for 980.00 - or half the price of a 90 SAA!

..Or you could buy a 180 Summicron-R and slice it in half?

I knew it was made in canada, but I think it didnīt have a M mount but tread, probably the focusing tubes had the M mount.
