Hi I am new to this forum,an old cs subscriber, who used to post occasionally at cs forum.I live in Canada on 70 acres,on the shores of lake erie, with my hubby of 20 years ,our 5 kids and soon-to - be daughter in law.We have been homeschooling 12 years, and have not began babbling incoherently yet.My hubby works out, locally, and is going to be keeping bees soon.My oldest son works for a master taxidermist doing museum work, and for the local butcher(what a combination)We have also done some trapping.(i hope not to offend anybody)The other kids have interests in sheep, horses, perennial flowers, and food lots of food.I am a doula, and the local deadstock evaluator(again ,a strange combination)and have begun a wee herb business this year.We just came back from 10 wonderful days in the north, where I learned to CANOE( ihave a extreme fear of water)I'm so excited.I feel very empowered now,I even volunteered to be the victim in the canoe flip-over and rescue,it was a highlight for me.Mind you you 'll feel pretty safe wearing 6 lifejackets!!!!LOL.Well I just wanted to say hi to Y'all.Love, peas and killer dustbunnies teri.

Hi Teri! Welcome to the forum! I'm hoping to start a wee herb business myself in a couple of years. I know what a doula is, but what's a deadstock evaluator?

Too bad there's not a market for those killer dustbunnies, I'd be rich! :)

Hi Sherri, thanx for the welcome.A deadstock evaluator is the person who goes to the farm when livestock has been killed by something. In Ontario the federal government pays if a wolf or coyote do the killing. If a dog does the deed, the money comes out of the local dog licenses. It is my job to decide ,like inspector Clouseau....who deed theez nasty crime?..and then the farmer gets buckage for the dead critter if I make a judgement in his favor( which always happens)Some folks have been dishonest in the past ,so you have to watch for fraud but really ,farmers are an honest lot generally.I love the look on some of the old-timers when they see me (a small frail bit of a thing, and a woman to boot)Dissecting their sheep. They're very funny, like they should be protecting me from the harsher realities of life!!!And yes, inside the dustbunnies are running the asylum here as we try to keep stuff watered ,weeded and happy outside,in the drought of 2001!!!!

Hi Teri, you sound like you've been having fun. Pop on over to the US Map thread and let me know where your place is. What state is it north of? Nice to hear from you.

Hi Teri,

Glad to see you made it over here! I think you'll find it a pleasant place to be.

Sounds like you and your son have jobs that keep you in a constant connnection with real life and death. Sounds very balancing.

Blessings,
