Hexanon 50mm f2.4

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Has anyone had the opportunity to try this lens? Erwin Puts makes mention of it and says its better than the current Elmar 50mm f2.8. I would like to hear of any user opinions. Would it make the best screw mount standard lens for my old IIIf? Its it a rare and/or expensive lens? I cannot find much information about this lens at all.

According to Steve Gandy's site, this lens was a limited edition lens with only 2000 units made. Based on the history of "instant collectibles", especially in Japan, I would be surprised if you could readily put your hands on one, at least not economically. You can check out the site via the link below... scroll down through the lenses to the 50mm section and then to the f-stop range for the f/2.4 model. http://www.cameraquest.com/ltmlens.htm
