SKY now reporting above as are BBC/ITVno real news as we all knew he played for PSG on Saturday
-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001
Todays's Journal says pretty much the same:Although Bobby Robson was keen to sing Robert's praise over the weekend, it is understood the completion of his transfer is still some way off and the player was not in Newcastle on Saturday.
If no bugga signs soon I think I'll switch my support to Brechin City.

Oh Jesus....Just when I was starting to get a bit optimistic.

I can but live in hope Swifty ;))

Deal not YET done. Another words PSG accept that he is going to Newcastle, its just that a few things need to be clarified. Thats exactly what his agent said yesterday (it was quoted somewhere, can't remember where). Odds on that Roberts is pararded infront of the geordie crowd before the Munich game on Wednesday. AM:-) Geordies on the march!!!!

I know this is silly, and I know we are so desparate for a decent signing, and I know relying on the official site to report anything is even more strange, but shouldn't they or wouldn't they or even couldn't they have some report on Robert?
-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001
I suppose it's difficult for then to say very much officially. However, with their fans/shareholders dangling by a rope for weeks now, and reacting almost hourly to various and often conflicting media reports, I feel sure they could make some statement to at least narrow down the range of uncertainty.I believe most public companies faced with a similar situation would seek to do something of that nature.

Here we go again!Ever-reliable Teamtalk report that Robert did not train with his PSG team mates yestderday but arrived in Toon last night to undergo a medical today prior to signing his 4 year, £25k pw deal. This represents a 250% increase on his current £10k pw deal at PSG.
They expect the deal to be disclosed later this afternoon or possibly tomorow morning. We shall see.

narrow down the range of uncertainty."As representatives of the Society of Philosophers, Luminaries, Sages and other Professional Thinking Persons, we demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty."
(Part of the genius of the late, lamented Douglas Adams.)

Below is a lovely piece of bull from the sky sports writers who will just through any club names into the hat, just to make a piece interestingThe St James' club are still keen on the player but now risk being trumped by either AC Milan or Galatasaray if negotiations continue to stall.
When did these teams suddenly develop an interest in Roberts, just goes to show, dont believe what you read!! AM
-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001
that should be 'don't believe ineverything that you read'
-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001
Signing tomorrow, 5 years, 10mill. Chronic, so it must be gospel.
-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001
Isn't it great to read that we are buying someone (maybe) that some decent teams (might) want too? Better than scrapping it out with Southampton for Paul Murray, or some such.

If Lauren Robert had played under Wadsworth at Carlisle we woudl have been after him a lot earlier

Good evening. Tonight, on It's The Mind, we examine the phenomenon of dejavu. That strange feeling we sometimes get that we've lived through something before. That what is happening now, has already happened. Good evening. Tonight, on It's The Mind, we examine the phenomenon of dejavu. That strange feeling...
-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001
Why didn't Wadsworth coach at Real Madrid? That would have been nice.
-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001
On his official website Robert says that he doesn't think he'll be playing in the InterToto for PSG on Wednesday and that he'll announce his decision tomorrow.
-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001
Do you think he'll come over on Wednesday to watch the toon befor signing up ? (providing we win of course). Or will he drag it out untill we win the InterToto just to be on the safe side of playing in Europe next season.
-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001
When Robert signs I guess all sorts of others will look north and see us in the Uefa and suddenly have their agents mentioning us. We'll be fighting to stop players wanting to join us.
-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001
Hmm. Latest piece on icNewcastle (though this may be down to my ISP's truly sh!te cache) has nothing from the Chrony; and indeed has the pendulum swung right back toward 'Haven't decided yet/still with PSG'.
-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001
If he's coming tomorrow, I hope it stays sunny: if the bugger hates the cold and wet as much as he's supposed to, he'll be on the first plane back to Paris if it's p*ssing down. I was geet optimistic about this yesterday but I think we may be let down again...

still there from the RonnieIC newcastle article taken from his website
hell sign
-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001
Assuming he signs (sic) - the Ronnie are saying he isn't eligible for the TwoBob Final - assuming of course we get through (!) - whereas nufc.com are saying he is.Can't someone check the rules with UEFA and let us know the facts instead of just bloody guessing?
-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001
Clarky who would you have your money on Alan Oliver being right or any one else in the world being right ?
-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001
So it looks as though Robert will be playing in the Final for us after all macbeth!
-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001
Is there a final? I thought the last 4 went into the UEFA cup...
-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001
3 finals, www.uefa.com has full explanation of how you get from 80 down to three 'winners'
