Trend Report

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Gwen's Trailer Trash Forum : One Thread

I'm so freaking out of it, y'all. Someone in the real world, tell me what the latest trends are. Especially the tackiest ones.

Are cropped pants out yet? Is there a full-scale Starbuck's backlash in effect or has it quietly slipped alongside convenience stores and Wal-Mart in North American culture? Who's hairdo is everyone aping?

I've been buying crocheted stuff from Target. Not that I set trends or anything, but I found a hot pink crocheted cell phone holder for $1.49, and I love it. I also got a black crocheted headband with yellow and white and hot pink flowers on it to go with the cell phone holder, and I like having a strip fo what looks like grandma's afghan going around my skull.

I don't think cropped pants are going anywhere for a while, but at least Lame Giant makes them wide legged now.

I am sooo pissed at Starbucks. Against the communities' wishes, they opened one up in Oceanside, CA., which immediately closed a wonderful coffee house/recording studio I had used. I guess if the communuity had really cared, they would not of patronized the new Starbucks *sign*. It was probably (obviously) the private coffee house owners that were against it.

I hear the latest fingernail craze is rounded edges, flat tops. There is some hybrid name for it, but I can't remember it. I still prefer very short, gently rounded nails, but I'm a geek.

It's called "squoval" (which is a fun word to say, much like "spork"). :)

Cropped pants seem to still be in around here (Toronto). I think they're fine for casual ware (shopping, at home etc), but they seem to have invaded the workplace, and that just ain't right. I actually saw a newsanchor wearing them the other day.

Flared floods seem to be in too. Yuck. I don't think anyone who can remember the 70's can wear this style in good conscience.

In Japan there is a new trend to have these little dangly things with Hello Kitty and stuff on hangin' off your cell phone. (teen trend). Also Snoopy is big there.

Heard it from a friend who went to visit Japan last month.

Those tight polyester sleeveless shirts with flags and stuff that Hedwig wore in the movie are a fad now. You know which ones? The ones that were all over the place in the Monterrey shopping strip.

Help me out, peeps.

Dude... check you out, all internuh-zational and shit. I was trying to figure out what to wear to Northline Mall this weekend.

I wish wigs would come back in style, a la Hedwig. Fuck, I should just wear them anyway.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch is the best movie I've ever seen (lately), y'all.

I've noticed people using parasols in Houston. That's a trend that's practical enough for me to follow.

Keep the flood pants - they fit me perfectly in length (top of shoe). No alterations and fit great. I'm stocking up now in case they go off the market in the next few months.

Also, some capri pants fit me in length too. Just call me stumpy.

Uh...are posts here being posted all out of order and popping in from other unrelated threads, or is it just my machine acting up?

*baffled*

Never mind--I just figured out that the newest posts are going to the top of the queue instead of the bottom.

D'oh!
