Robert - it is true this time!

Robert - it is true this time! I've been reading the French web sites for PSG, Robert, National Team, etc and from what they say, if we're lucky we might have bought ourselves a cross between Ginola and Cantona (hopefully the best bits). He's coming into the Toon for his med tomorrow (monday) morning. The PSG fans are sick he's leaving, which should be a good sign. Nickname is LoLo!

Midfield of Robert - Speed or Bassedas or Lee - Dyer - Solano sounds pretty good.

If it's true and we're about to sign Robert what will the team be? Obviously he would give us balance and flexibility but assunming everyone was fit who would play. I'd imagine he and Solano would play on the flanks with Speed and Dyer in the middle? Any suggestions?

I'm still waiting with baited breath though.

I expect us to look to play 5 in midfield, with three at the back. Not sure I agree with this but it would make sense

Hughes Dabizas Elliot

Speed/Lee/Acuna

Solano Dyer Bassedas Robert

Two from Bellamy, Cort, Shearer, Ameobi

Maybe ?

Or maybe it has to be 4-4-2 and Given

Barton Dabizas O'Brien Elliot Solano Bassedas Speed Robert Dyer Shearer ..... how do we get Dyer and Bellamy in the same team (without selling Bellamy to Leeds too ?)

LoLo - so good they named him twice. Er, that's been done, hasn't it?

LoLo and LuaLua......we're turning into the Toonteletubbies! ;-)

If he really is here, then maybe I should start a 'When will LoLo leave Competition'.

It' bound to pay out before the 'When will Marcelino leave Competition'

But just who of the toonteletubbies will now take corners and free- kicks? Lolo gave all PSG's corners and freekicks last year? Last year he fired ten goals out of his total of 15 from fks. But don't we already have one Nobby? It would be nice to have this kind of problems! 8-d

Robert is left footed, so he'll be good in tandem with Solano. We'll have a lot more variation than last season.

According to the L'Equipe, he met with Bobby Robson on Saturday to discuss the deal. As a result of having decided to play for the toon he was pants against Lille and got subbed after 74 mins to a chorus of boos and whistles. As he left he applauded all the supporters though, so he'll fit in well with Barton in the clapping department.

I know Gav isn't keen on having any Frenchmen in the team, but Robert is a real game breaker. When he's on fire he's great to watch. I think the Toon Army will really take to him as he plays with so much passion.

I'll be hoping he makes us proud of him.....

Great news this, we've finally got a replacement for Ginola, only took 4 years like!! And since he can play in the inter-toto and UEFA if we get through, this is a bonus. Bobby says he still wants to sign a striker so hopefully in 3 weeks time we should have a team that is prepared to make a top 5 challenge. From there who knows!!! AM

This morning's Journal reckons BR now wants to strengthen the right side, and there are some unsubstantiated rumours that we are after Barcelona's Luis Enrique. However, I have a feeling we may now go for Lee Hughes.

And it's obvious that 'Philippe, Philippe Albert everyone .....' etc, straight away will become 'Laurent, Laurent Robert, everyone ...' etc.

Bit concerned that Robert owns fast Italian cars and has a dodgy nickname...could soon become Lolo Ferrari.

Do the business mate, and show us you care and you will be a hero.

Hasnt Enrique just signed a new contract with Barca?

could soon become Lolo Ferrari

That would stop him diving around like Ginola...

Pete,

Contracts in football are simply pieces of paper - good for wrapping yer fish & chips in but not much else!
