Whats eating fat f**king Freddy?

Is todays rant an attempt to curry favour with your lot? Is he a druggie? Or does he think that you have fallen behind us(from being miles and miles ahead) and he needs to try and stop the rot somehow? I think his chairmanship would be more suited to a ciu club somewhere! How about Heaton Buffs?

Answers

I thought it was quite reserved way of putting the clubs slant on all teh negetive press we've been getting over the last few months.

Why are you biting Comparatively Good but by no means Super Kev? No one on here mentioned it?

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

You have got nothing intelligent to say and add nothing to the quality of debate and entertainment here. You accused us of being boring and yet feel a powerful need to keep coming back. That tells it's own story.

You are no longer welcome here.

What is the criteria for having the best stadium in the country? I feel that we could have a good claim on that one. And as for the best fans i think every fan of every club claims that for themselves. And as for no-one turns down Nufc............... Could the fact that players such as domi, goma et all not suggest that players do sign for nufc for the inflated wages but regret it shortly afterwards.

Jonno ,if i am to be judged it will not be by you my bitter humourless friend!

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

Jonno humourlous , That`s it Kevin, defintely overstepped the mark now, the knives will be out in East Cheam , oh by the way answer me this in regards to your title, "Why have you a fixation with large, fat , people " , cos when we meet my not so vital these day`s statistics are 258lbs of prime Geordie/Jock Beef on the hoof. Mooo

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

Probably a combination of factors - thing is, we have the ambition to try to get great players while you lot are still too timid to try.

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

Also, is Bob Murray thin? Just wondering, like.

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

Buff,so you are 18 stone + eh? Well i am not too far behind mate.Actually i saw someone in the Bay horse last sunday who i thought may have been you as this was an 'ahem' larger gentleman who looked like i imagine your youngest boy looks now. Look forward to the day that we meet but please leave behind the now sadly predictable magpie arrogance that has accompanied Nufcs' surge in recent years.Back to my point about the Bay Horse last sunday, the person who i thought may have been you was with the resident Aberdeen fan in whickham so this further increased my wonderings. This aforemantioned Aberdeen fan is a legend in his own lunchtime as his antics when viewing the Dons on the telly are quite something to behold. In fact he stands out like Jonno at a comedy club!!

Just back from yet another trip to the USA (NYC this time) and no bugga has ever heard of ya's..... but they have heard of Man U and in the respective communities, such as Italian, Spanish, etc, there is a good knowledge....

Brothel loving Fat Freddy is entitled to say what he wants to say and he probably does believe it and even you lot may believe some of it, if not all!!!!

But.... the problem is that statements like this do you know service as the man has no integrity and/or class and is simply an arrogant puuffball.... it reflects badly on your once "great" club and the true supporters.... and every time he or some of the others open their gobs prior to a derby game or a second leg fixture, or a cup final, etc, etc, etc, etc, he/they just set themselves and the club up for a big fall and further embarrasment....

I just think its very entertaining thats all.... the game needs corrupt fat brother creeping tw*ts like Fat Freddy but keep them away from SAFC for christsake...

good luck because with PR like this you are going to need it...

Screacher must in between posts so to speak, Kevin please do not offer some of these guys an intro line of Heating Buff`s , there will be more double entendres fleein aboot than the Buffalo can handle,

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

YOu make an excellent point about Freddy blabbing off, Roly. I think there should be a gag order on everyone connected with NUFC prior to a derby match as there's always one of them mouthing off then looking like an idiot afterwards. Last year it was Hughes.

As for Freddy's statement, dunno where he thinks anyone is going to believe him that 'nobody' has said they don't want to come to Newcastle. YBR could probably hand him a lengthy list.

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

Ciara, how dare you? Aaron merely said that he thought we'd win because we play better football. We all thought that ;)

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

LOL. And who was saying he should shut his gob? ;-))

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

Roly Kev, cannot be fussed about your lot , do not know what Fred has said but you should be more concerned about Don "Mag from the Teams" Hutchinson current dyer type disenchantment and his wish to move , plus Killer Kilbanes statement that he would crawl up the road to play for Celtic , me mam warned me not to speak to taxi drivers so rest assured my sources are good. just an observation lyeuk .

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

aye bill.....

if hutch were going to go for a lot more money and a bigger club... then so be it!!!! but you and I know that it just isnt going to happen in the near future......

Kilbane... we'll see.... he's entitled to a Childhood team isnt he.... just like Lee C666k... itll be intersting to see if the spotty faced mag twat plays against you lot and if he hits the target if he has the chance.....

one thing about killa is that he tries although he has got to produce this year.... so far as Hutch is concerned his professionalism will last in my memory till the day I die when he popped home that equaliser....

hehehehehehehehe

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

Buff

Thought you were mature. But are you antedeluvian?

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

Roly,

Just run by me again what 'professionalism' it is you are ascribing to Hutch for netting from 6.75 inches against us last season - a chance I would think even wor lass might have put away.

The guy is a despicable toss-pot; a charver, without a shred of class. If Geordie nationalism could be retracted he'd be at the front of the queue.

Wish we'd signed him mind. ;-{)

Kev, did you see they reckon if we get into the Uefa cup it'll be worth £5m to us, or that's how much 1860 reckon it would be worth to them.

If your chairman had decided to spend money rather than rifle the profits off somewhere you could be in the Uefa cup now, if he really intended to be competitive he may even have invested at either of the last two Xmas's and you could be in the Champions League. I won't defend the personalities that are Douglas Hall and Freddie Shepherd but they back their managers with money. Murray talks a big fight, does superb PR work but you still take more money in from selling forwards than from buying them. (Bridges v every purchase in 5 years ?). Where does the Sunderland money go, I really don't understand. You do have huge crowds, your stadium cost less than ours, you don't have stars so you don't have high wages, where is the money going ?

As fas as financial propriety goes Murray came very close to being banned form being a company director in the early 90s after his business got involved in dubious trading. Just as with other dodgy dealers (which may well include our boys ) I don't think they change their spots. Ours will continue to make PR gaffs cos that's their way, I think Murray will also be very close to the edge as far as financial dealings go. When Reid leaves Murray will be staright off to see if George Graham is available.

When Everton sack Walter Smith in late September and offer Reid maga bucks to take over I fully expect either a big round of transfer deals at Sunderland to placate him, or him to leave for Goodison. At least we know for sure no one will come and poach Robson !!

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

Clarky... very good... your namesake said he would have deliberately missed on Soccer AM!!!!! that type of professionalism!!!!!

Macbeth... you are way off the mark re Bob Murray.... you are referring to Springram which he founded with Bill Rooney.... Murray had resigned and left Springram in the late 80's before it got into financial difficulties.... it was Rooney that was "investigated" (as is statutory in company failures.... Rooney has had several other failures since also....

Murray is clean.... you should re-tract....

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

Roly me boy,Macbeths' bitterness will NOT allow him to re-tract.It will merely drag him further under. This man is,albeit very intelligent and well qualified, bitter in the extreme towards Sunderland and their supporters.Attempting reason with him is similar to Steve Wraith..Ie a complete waste of time!As i am from his home town/village i suggest his hatred lies in the fact that maybe, just maybe,he has a Sunderland fan in his blood stream or by marriage and he cannot handle it! Hatred, the last refuge of a weak mind!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

oh and a second chomp from me macbeth....

i agree that robson has the credentials that he had earned over many years.... but apart from a couple of things he has won nowt....

as has reid granted .... but robson is 68 (?) and reid is in his forties.... you never see reid spouting off in the press as robson does frequently as he knows that the board has complete confidence in him and he in the board.... he also has bought into a significant financial stake in the club (he wasnt given it).... Reid is by inclination a saver/hoarder preferring to find value and build a team unlike robson and your board who are spendthrifts out and out spendthrifts.... they know the cost/price of everything but the value of nowt.....

the everton scneario is three years old now and bill kenwright is as strapped for cash as you are.... and everton is not reid's boyhood team... liverpool is... he has no affinity for the toffees at all.... granted you never say never in this game... but surely you can dangle better bait than that for me to chomp on.....

check your fActs .,..... you are guessing and guessing only marra.... here have another go.... cya tomorrow...

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

final chomp then bed.... (be easier if i wrote it down in one go)....

i remember the days when £5m was a "good lunch" for your board... now they need every penny hence the interwobbob entry..... we dont need thr money and prefer to have a fully fit, prepared and rested squad for the worlds most imnportant league....

there now.... errrr thats it....

nite nite

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

So, are you saying that Reid agrees with the Board's parsimony because he's a shareholder?

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

thats a big word for you dougal..... and its your word

sweet dreams

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

Toon Expat, Nah live and let live, nuthin against Luvians , in fact some of my best pals are of that ilk

-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001

Gotcha Roly - if LC really said that I'm afraid he was being distinctly disingenuous.

BTW, like you I'd be very surprised to see Peyter leaving SAFC voluntarily - financially he has too much riding on their success. However, to make serious money he needs to get the share price moving, and to achieve that you must get into the CL.

As you point out, SAFC has been managed prudently and is in a fairly strong financial position. However, to bring this off I really believe Reidy needs to act against his best instincts, and make some serious investments in top talent - and the reality is he doesn't have forever. This really is "the big banana" for SAFC.

Kev, not a single drop of Sunderland supporting blood in my veins. My maternal side have lived within five miles of Blaydon since turn of century at least. My dad was born and raised in Dunston. It wouldn't matter though whether I had Man U blood in me, it's who I am that matters.

Roly, apologies to Murray if it wasn't him. It was the case you were talking about, and I must have got the wrong end of the stick. My memory comes from an old Independent article many years ago when the initial investigations were in progress, I don't doubt you are more current in your knowledge so I apologise.

Roly I'm not sure what prompted your Robson v Reid comment but I'll rise to it ! Robson and Reid are very similar personalities, they may be from different eras but they are both loyal, proud men. Reid is a rougher version of the gentleman that is Robson and that is what would ever stop him being England manager. Reid has done superbly to get Sunderland to finish 7th a couple of years in a row but I we have all seen the investment needed to get yourself into the top 5 and Sunderland show no inclination to want to compete. A common theme among Sunderland fans seems to be that Newcastle cannot sign players that they aim for. The problem we have is trying to buy players with European experience to improve us, and we don't have the carrot of European football. If we fail in attracting players from Barca, or struggle to get the from Paris, then I'm happy at our ambition.

This may seem harsh, but I believe Peter Reid has survived at Sunderland on the single signing of Kevin Phillips. That has to be the best signing a Sunderland manager has ever made. I understand the desire to build a team by saving/hoarding and there is nothing better than a kid coming through but I see no real sign of why he's saving/ hoarding. Is the good money management to save up at spend £4m on a replacement for Niall Quinn ? Is that it ? Is that what's going to change you from the best of the rest into a European contender ? I really don't think so. Over the last few seasons you have bought two or three players each summer. Your first choice XI is slowly improving, but it is slowly aging as well, and there seems to be no depth to it. To have a Premiership club with two attackers is near negligent (Dalglish was the same with us). You have been unbelievably lucky not to have an injury to SK or Quinn, the cover of Dichio and kids is not acceptable to a team aiming to be in Europe. I found your sale of Bridges, for whatever reason, so hard to understand, and even harder to comprehend when the money wasn't spent on a replacement. If SK broke a leg against Ipswich would you happily write off the season on the mantra of a slow, considered approach ?

My memory of Ipswich in the 70s which is the Robson team at the same stage of career as Reid is with Sunderland is one that played lovely football, to feet, with excellent footballers. I don't think even the staunchest of Reid's apologists would claim his side played cultured football. From 1972 to 1981 Ipswich finished in the top 4 seven times, won the FA Cup and then the Uefa Cup. I'd suggest Sunderland are a bigger club than Ipswich (although not last year !!) and Peter Reid should be able to match what Robson did at Ipswich.

Why do people buy shares ? Reid didn't buy shares to show he was a Sunderland fan, he bought them as an investment. I see a real conflict of interests in him owning shares and being the person to suggest whether the club spend money on.

Okay Everton was old :0)

I still don't really see where Sunderland gate receipts have gone. I don't have access to the accounts so maybe there is a great wad of cash waiting to be used (you'll have to help me here). The revenue must be the same as at Newcastle, as I said the ground costs you less, the players cost you less so where does all the money go ? Is the aim to be the most profitable side in the Premiership and not play in Europe.

The problem with slow building of squads is that you keep waiting for jam tomorrow. Every Sunderland supporter I talk to (not many) emphasises the need for steady growth, the problem with that is that teams like Leeds and Liverpool over the last couple of years, and Spurs this year don't want to take time, they want to play in the Champions League now and have invested accordingly. Sunderland and Newcastle are getting left behind. For us it comes from poor previous managers. For you it seems to be a mindset that says 'go slowly'. If you don't improve you go backwards, as we found out. I suspect you will find out also next season.

-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001

a very fair summization and one thats hard to disagree with.... you are right that we now need to make one or two "serious" purchase and i think that will happen soon.... apparently with Dyer being the first !!!! :O{}....

I see the shares thing with Reid as no harm at all and only good in that the club will only be truly financially successfuly if they win things (after spending prudently)... and that Reid's interests are alligned (good word!!!) with the club and the Plc....

time will tell.... good rant though....

-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001

I watched Clarky on Soccer AM and the question put to him (very unfairly I thought) was if he was playing for Sunderland against Newcastle, last match of the season and Sunderland were safe with nothing to play for and if Newcastle lost they would be relegated it is 0-0 with a minute to go, and he was clean thro' with an open goal what would he do ? I believe he replied he would have to score against Newcastle but would try and score an own goal straight after, admittedly not totally professional (neither was his teeshirt) but an honest answer to a very unfair question !

-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001

Since you had the temerity to patronise me, Roly: I am, going to tell you that you spelt your "good" word wrong: it's "aligned" ;)

-- Anonymous, July 30, 2001

thanks for pointing that out dougal... did you also note other typo's, poor grammar and the incorrect american spelling of summization (or whatever)....

pants.... (Niall Quinns)
