Making photos into a video cd

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I am trying to scan photo's into my computer and burn them on a cd to play on my dvd player (Panasonic RV31) I have CD Easy Creator 5 platimun. I am not sure if this can be done or not. I would like them pictures to flash us with music playing as well. I can get it to work on the computer, but can not burn a disc to play on the DVD player. Any suggestions. Thanks.

This qquestion pops up over and over again. There are 2 important requirements to achieve stills slide show on VCD. 1. The player - you have to be certain that the dvd players will read vcds or cdr or cdrw. Some very high quality DVD players will NOT play VCDs. Not all players are built to do this and what is worse the manufacturers do not openly declare these capability. Search the internet. There are forum/websites that list various model of dvd players that read a variety of CDs. This have been tested by contributors. The latest Pioneer DV 533K is the only players that clearly declares its capability to play DVD, VCD, SVCD, MP3 and CD-R and CD-RW. I have tried this player and it works !! It is very good value for money as it plays everything and has no region code. Before long, I believe the other manufacturers will follow.

2. The software - you have to be sure it allows you to create slide show. Chances are these software create VCDs. Hence you need a players that will play VCDs. So far my experience has been that Roxio WinOnCD 3.8 PE is the easiest and the best.

I used Arcsoft photo base to make photo VCD. This software has the additional option to burn the photos together with any wav or mp3 song or music so that you can enjoying the music while watching the photos on VCD.
