Cheeky gets: The Laurent Robert Website Forum

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Just checking out the comments on his forum: "Above all, don't go to Newcastle, there are much better teams over there", "Newcastle aren't ambitious and you'll never get into the World Cup squad if you play there". In fairness, they are bawling about the propsect of losing him.

I'm sure I'm typographically dyslexic - that should read "prospect".

Oooh, they are now talking about him waving at them as he left the pitch and speculating that it may be a sign that he's off....

-- Anonymous, July 28, 2001

Oh, apparently the fans were whistling at him and booing him, too.

One of them will get a cyberslapping in a minute: he's just called SJP, a "stade de merde".

Thery're obviously getting mixed up with the mackems Dougal. I've tried the address you gave - why doesn't it work?

-- Anonymous, July 28, 2001

So I take it the whistling and booing is the fans' way of showing their love and begging Robert to stay. Those French are a funny lot.

Oh, they are taking it as a fait accompli and are saying that players who go to Newcastle are never heard of again (surely they've heard of Monsieur Domi?). We are a "little club" that's less important than PSG. They are accusing him of lying to them about his intentions and have a few choice words about his agent, too. The funniest thing is one of them calling the English people asking about him, a "bande d'encules anglais". Jacko - dunno - I just cut and pasted the address from my browser. Try going in on http://www.sportifsonline.com

This is bizarre - why will my browser not load any of the addresses Dougal has given. Is it an anti-European browser?

Dougal, Do you surmise they believe we are literally or figuratively "buggers"? ;-{)

Well, remember what that female Prime Minister they had a few yaers ago said about English men?

-- Anonymous, July 29, 2001

Some recent Euro-scandal for you.

That female Prime Minister Edit Cresson then became a European Commissioner. Unfortunately she sent several bungs, sorry, international contracts to her dentist/live-in whatsit.

Ze rest, as they say, est histoire. She was found out, wouldn't resign and thus the whole Commission had to resign.

Currently works on the turnstiles for PSG.

It's funny, I knew she was called Edith, but I couldn't quite remember what and almost called her Edith Piaf.
