Building TermsHere are some building terms in no particular order.
- Cased opening: an opening in a wall that has a jamb and trim but no door. - Caulk: the act of filling a joint or void with a filler material. The filler is called caulking when used indoors and sealant when used outdoors. - Cement (Portland): an ingredient in concrete. - Concrete: a mixture of Portland cement, sand, aggregate and water. It is a concrete sidewalk, not a cement sidewalk. - Cricket (Saddle): the raised portion of roof behind a chimney, which diverts water around the chimney. - Masonry Unit: a hollow or solid building unit, a.k.a. brick or block.
