Mike DQ at Oringen?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : orienteer kansas : One Thread

Is it true? If you check the results of stage 4 of the Oringen, you will find Mike Eglinski listed as DQ in H35. How is this possible? Especially since Mike is supposed to be in Tampere Finland???

Did he maybe give his number to somebody else before he left? It's not that uncommon for people to use up the remaining portion of somebody else's entry if the first person has to leave town before the end of the event. Maybe somebody from Lidingö?

Bad Snorkel! Naughty, naughty, naughty Snorkel!!!! To soil Spike's reputation on the eve of the WOC. Have you no shame?

Adding to what JJ said, it would be quite usual for someone taking over someone else's number and running in their name during the middle of a multi-day to deliberately DQ (not punch the last control or something like that) in order to not have a misleading "valid" result show up in the original runner's name.

I think we are all overlooking the key words "supposed to be".

Is it just me? Everytime I see this topic line I wonder what in the world spike was doing at a Dairy Queen at the Oringen, of all places!

Just to set the record straight: I saw no Dairy Queens in Sweden. But Magnus did run in Mike's O suit, with his bib number and dip stick. He had a decent run, but one mistake. He took about 32 minutes, and then deliberately did not punch the last control.
