CD video or video cd?

i have a laserdisc / cd video player. is cd video the same as video cd or VCD? i tried to burn a movieclip with NERO 5 but the player ('95 pioneer, cd-r capable) won't play it. it thinks it's an audio cd... well, perhaps anyone can help me. many thanx in advance,

No it's not the same thing. This is a great source of confusion among many people. CD Video is an old format that laserdisc players supported. It allows for up to 20 minutes of CD audio that can be read by any CD player. It also allows for up to 5 minutes of analog (yes, analog) video that can only be read by laserdisc players. VCD is a completely different format that DVD players and PCs can play. VCD allows for up to roughly 74 minutes of digital MPEG-1 video. There are no tools available to make CD Video discs. Even if you could make one, would a format that limits you to 5 minutes of video REALLY be all that useful? Even miniDVD on a CD-R disc offers more than that.
