dogs mating through chain link fencing....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Well this may sound like a stupid question but I want an honest answer. all my dogs are kept in outdoor kennels including the breeding bitches whether there in heat or not. Ive been doing it this way for 3 years now and have had no problems although the neighborhood dogs do come around occasionally. My question is is that some breeders dont recomend this because they say ther have been cases of dogs mating right through chain link FENCING!!!!! I would think that if this is not impossible it must be almost as rare as getting struck by lightning ... SO send your opinions please....

It sure can happen! It is amazing how powerful and resourceful the urge to procreate can be!

The urge is definitely unbelievable and they get very creative. I used to breed toy poodles and I thought I had licked the problem by making the females little denim underwear. Sure looked like it would work. I thought it had, until Dickens, my little stud, came running up to me in the kitchen, wagging his tail, with those cute little underpants in his mouth! Chain link fence, no problem. Jean

We had a Bullmastiff do that. Had to give him a sedative to detach him from the fence and stitches were the price he had to pay.

Oh dear! Well, my dad how a cow surprise him with a calf (two years in a row) even though he did not have a bull. He was sure the sire was a big gorgeous neighbor angus, but wasn't always sure how.

Even horses have done it thru chainlink! A friend's huge mare squatted down like a daschund for the stud on the other side. Where there's a will....
