MATCH DAY THREAD: starting early

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Woooo hoooooo: isn't it amazing how childishly excited you can get about the Toon playing? Sunny day, seen loads of people in their black and white shirts and life couldn't get any better. How is everyone else?

Also, Safeway have got a great offer on Stella.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Mornin' Dougal, easing my way into the work day. Are you going to be watching the game on channel 5 or gracing us with your presence on the board? 2 hours 15 mins to go. Palms are begining to sweat a tad. Pissing down rain in chicago, nice break from the 100 degree weather we've been having.

TOON TOON.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Just found out the local sportsbar dont show the match. I guess I have to put up with you lads and lasses. :p

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Syme, I'll be watching the game in wor sitting room with my pc plugged in although I am happy to put it to the vote: if people can't bear my cyber screams and general hysteria, I will keep quiet til after the game.... Is it still geet hot in Chicago - it's quite nice here, too!

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

I'll be here and on Ch5 later on.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

It's down to the high 70's right about now, loads of rain. For the last week we've been suffering through a heat index of over 100 (heat index is the combination of tempreature and humidity) so if it's like 90 and the humidity is high then it feels much hotter than the temp actually is. Anyway it was miserable, quiet a few heat related deaths.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Sudden, the p has to be within the >p< keys but the other way around to get the paragraph break. Not sure where they are on the Swedish keyboard.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Dougs, I got a cabinet full of valium if the excitement gets too much.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Thanks Syme ;)

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Did you take up the special on Stella Dougal?? Are they cold? do they perspire when you take them out of the fridge? Do any of them have my name on it?

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

It was a smiley Rik

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Hello everyone, yes, it's early but I just scammed a set of headphones so I can listen to the webcast at work. My boss thinks I am checking transcripts from audio tapes...woo hooo, bring on the webcast, if it works.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Haha nice going Pete!

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Ehm, icDeadPeople is having "live" coverage of the game on their site. When I press the link this of course came up:

Error Occurred While Processing Request

How unusual! That would be the last site on the earth i would trust to get me the results live.

When are they going to fix the stupid site? =[

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Sudden, I keep pressing refresh till it comes through, works most times.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Ok, I'll try that if i see something I really want to read.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Dougal did you just pop oot an get some stella fer uz? Bless ya cotton socks.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

I don't believe it - the webcast is up and running!! FiIngers crossed it stays that way ;-)

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Is there anybody out there??

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Syme - Pint if ice cold Stella here. What does everyone else want? It's my rooond. Bobby Robson, Craig Bellamy and Gary Speed were just on Tyne Tees News, BTW, all looking vert fit and tanned.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Shouldn't they be in Munich by now?? BTW - I'll hev a "Dog 'n' Vorve Cocktail" thingy please. And check yer email.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

I'm stuck in the orifice so can't go WAH - AKA AWOL. However, noise reducing headphones help a lot. I wonder if they're good enough to drown out Dougal's shrieks???

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

I,m here..hello everyone. Like screach, at work headphones on......HOWAY THE LADS!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Jesus - how many f....g adverts do they show on Channel 5? Currently, they are interviewing the Toon Army in a Beer Garden in Munich (amidst many cliches about nee shirts and the Bigg Market).

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Fifties Fan reporting in from HK.It's almost 1.45am.We've been off all day because of the possibility of a Typhoon. The danger signal has now been lowered so we are all expected to be into work bright and early tomorrow and the match won't finish till around 4.0am.Ah well-tough. Howay the lads!!!!!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Bollox - first thing we do is concede a sodding corner. Their centre forward is at least 24 feet tall. Stadium very empty.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

They are having the better of this early spell - our fullbacks are doing all right.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

I am actually listenting to the game, amazing. I dunno if I can stand it. Toonarmy seem in good voice. Settle doon lads.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Hughes is man marking Hasler. Quinn into the box, jormans backpeddling

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

I've said it before and I'll say it again, watching matches on the telly is excrutiating....

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Yuo should thry the PC then Dougal - that's even worse. Especially when you're working :-(

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Quinn and Bellamy seem to be doing a good job linking up, elliott good distribution.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Wohoo Nobby!!!!! 1-0 to the Toon

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Wahooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOBBY 1-0

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

I'm having an orgasm, Nobby's goal was so good: movement exquisite, great penetration into the box...

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

the commentators are underwhelming. solano skinned like four people.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

yes-well done nobby!

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Yes - that's what usually causes an orgasm ;-))

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Ha Hahahahaha

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Giggs-esque??

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Hello from Belgium. Just got online in time to hear Solano switched inside with Bassedas going outside, and then he jinks through and scores. Looking good.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Syme - it was as good a goal as I've seen for ages.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

the commentators are crap, i thought it was a penalty.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Is there a webcast anywhere?

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

The Channel 5 commentators have just hexed us by saying that 1860 haven't a clue and our midfield are taking the p..s out of them...

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

www.nufc.co.uk metro radio

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Yes, go to www.nufc.co.uk and look for the Metro Radio logo, click on that. You will need windows media player.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

cheers

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Howay lads, let's have another.............

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Speed loops header over the crossbar. Hasler is everywhere. Toon doing stuff doon the left what a surprise. Solano to bassedas turns, shola blocked.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Ah here! Why do I always miss the beginning of the game?

1-0 i here, WOOOHOOO

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Dougal I am ready fer another. I'll get the valium, toon defending, first 23 minutes gone well.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

hi Sudden, glad you could make it. Sounded like an awesome goal from Nobby, beat four defenders and chipped the keeper

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Here yer are, pet. Make mine two Valiums, please.. I'm worried about Hassler. Warren Barton is having a good game...

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Bellamy playing well, holding up the ball

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Great to hear Nobby is hot. Same line up as last game?

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Shola begining to piss of the jormans, should have played hughes in. forgive the spelling, grammer. Anyone else for valium? Me nerves are shot

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Now having an anti-orgasm about the f....g stupid ball Nobby gave away which almost led to a Munich goal. 1860 can't stay this bad. The Channel 5 commentators are saying that Hughes is doing a good job on Hassler....

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Dougal - I don;t want toknow about your aunty's orgasm. Please keeo such things to yourself (and your aunty).

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

oooooooooooooooooooooooh speed just wide.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Well, Syme's going on about his Gramma... BTW, they are a rough side these Jormans and the 1860 manager has the stragest barnet I've ever seen...

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Quiet here tonight, are you all having orgasms or what?

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Some of us are working :-(

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Bellamy brought down, jorman should be sent off.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Villa a goal down hehe

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

hhhhhaha, half time lads goal to the good.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Munich web site http://www.tsv1860.de/ has a photo of the Toon Army in the Olympic Stadium at http://www.tsv1860.de/bilder//livebilder/anzeiger_newcastle.jpg but I don't know how to link it here. It says it was taken 20 minutes before the game, when there look to be 2 or 3 hundred there.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Bellamy still down injured. Commentator saying we have been by far the better side and our defending has been brilliant but cautioning that we should have got a second and we'll probably tire in the second half. Stadium like a morgue.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

How many Munchen fans are there to add to our 300? If it's like a morgue tonight, they won't know what's hit them next week.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Thanks barry, picture is now screensaver.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

They claim there are 25000 but there's no way there are that many unless it's the way they are spread out. I would say there are about 500 Toon fans there but it's hard to tell because they are all spread out, too....

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Did anyone else hear the Metro commentator apologise to internet listeners for webcast problems in previous games ? - I heard something, but my link was "buffering" and I didn't catch it all.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

http://media.tsv1860.de/bilder//livebilder/anzeige_newcastle.jpg

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Ah Bollix - half time doesn't last nearly long enough when you are a norvous type. Whatever happens in this half, though, I'll still be gett proud of the lads - they've really tried and the commentators are saying that, with our injuries mended, we actually have a top 6 side without buying more players.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

don't the tits on metro realize that when the music is playing we can't hear a thing. Talk aboot amatures.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

great to hear the lads singin' Dougal got any food? starvin.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Aye - some nachos and guacamole plus chips and mayo for the hungrier souls. I'm on a diet so it's Rispinos for me ;(

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Lads seem to be playing the dangerous patience game, elliott playing well. No change given tothe jormans

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Robbie Elliott just put in the hardest tackle from a United player in years (I mean, ouch!) but Bellamy got carded for being a gobshite and gave away a freekick...

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Bassedas was good in first half but just lost a crap ball...

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

PHEW

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Toon under some pressure, jormans are apparently auditioning for the jorman diving team. Jormans hit the bar. twice

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Ooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. They Hit the bar, now we have a panalty

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

NOLBERT SOLANO CHALALALALAA

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Solano scores, get innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn man nobs.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

We need to score again to relieve some of this pressure: they are playing at a much faster tempo than in the first half. The Jormans are going down like a King's Cross slappa.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Shite....2-1

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Damn! Hassler (?) 2-1

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

TWO NIL to the Newcastle. So So La La No No Go Go Al Al

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Sorry - while I was typing that, Solano did relieve the pressure.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Jesus - Nobby has been at the heart of everything good AND bad in this game.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Bit off the pace tonight, Barry?

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

It's like basketball scoring rates right now

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Hello T - E. I think Metro takes a long time to get here. 3 - 1 Solano again!!!!

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Thought I'd try to get in first that time, but it didn't work.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Jesus - d'you think Nobby has been ski-ing down a Bolivian snow drift?

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

First half commentary on Munchen site says

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Thanks barry, this is a receipe for strudel right?

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Easy for them to say...

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

wtf

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

sounds like 2-2

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

I think the first sentence says the Lions Team finds itself at this moment in deep sh1t

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

2-2 fuck

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

2-2 getting exciting now!

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Oh Jesus - Howay, man, lads, concentrate.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

How long still to play?

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Too bleeding long....

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Jormans bringing off midfielders and bringing on attackers. I'd be happy with a 2-2, get em home and stuff em.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

twenty minutes left......Come on lads...

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

2-2 would be OK with away goals etc.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Get a grip :-(

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Speed wide, bugger

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Bollox!!!

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

What happened for their second goal, anyone know. I was frankly at the netty.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

sounded like a shot from the edge of the box, some guy on his arse got a foot on it into the net off the crossbar

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Henceforth, I shall be referring to Gary as Gary "Mr.Sitter" Speed..

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Whats going on?

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

What are Villa doing, anyone know?

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

when did Caldwell come on, or Bernard

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Who scored and how?????

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Hughes scored Sme, Solano shot at goal, Hughes headed it in

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Too much fecking extra time. Even the very Toon-friendly commentators are moaning.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Dabizas being a prick and arguing with the ref. Hassler to take really dangerous free kick.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

"very smart"

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

3-2 final score: phew. Well done me lovely lads!

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

A friggin good night. Good night!

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

stone me that was friggin brilliant. Takes some doing that mind

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

From the TV. we had a good first half, Pat Nevin analysis of Shola was spot on, he has a lot to learn about position. Second half we were all at sea & midfield were all over the shop. Basedas & Solano when they link up are great, there needs to be more movement around them though. Elliot makes us look a much better defence.

Bellemy will give an option it he plays behind the front two (one) but a bit if a one trick pony, god knows why the Gormans fell for it every time.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Great match day thread, folks! All the excitement, but without the stress of stretching out the stress over 90min. ;-)

Excellent result!! Very glad the lads proved my pre-match cynicism wrong. :-D

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

We beat the Jormans, We beat the Jormans, We beat the Jormans, alright lads and lasses, We beat the Jormans. Please, begging your forgiveness, but on their own park too, Yes allow me to gloat, and gloat I will, We beat the Jormans ..lalalallaaalalaaaaaaaaaa.

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

Who did we beat???

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

And it's not just cos they were the Jormans, but lots of peeps had us down for a loss tonight. Being against the Jormans is a bonus. .........We beat the Jormans.....
