Wednesday Night (international clique)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Grateful if a number of expats would make themselves available on-line on the BBS tomorrow evening to hold my hand as I try to access the web-cast tomorrow night. This proved to be a harrowing experience last Saturday, although ultimately, with help from the States & Canada, I eventually managed it.

Mind you, the commentator seemed to be speaking with a gob-full of marbles.

Count me in, although Ciara has attempted to help me out on several occasions I've never managed to listen to a game yet, might be something to do with work mind. Still, I'll be here on me "lunch" as it were, so sharpen yer fingers bonny lad.

I,m working, but hopefully i can make it too. might require a set of headphones so my boss doesn't catch me. I will at the very least be on the BBS for updates.

When I tried on my desktop, immediately it switched to microsoft media it crashed. Tried a couple of times on laptop and eventually was able to connect. Up till then I was on eurosport.com -- which gave a minute by minute written commentary. Hope this helps.

If Channel 5 is available on satelite then shouldn't we be able to get it in the USofA?? I was just on the channel 5 website (thanks floridian) and it gave quite specific instructions of where the dish is located for transmission.

Syme

I'm in Minneapolis - if you hear of a USA broadcast please let me know. There's supposed to be a Sports Bar in the Mall of America with every channel possible on it.

I'm on 612 642 6231 but I'll try and check on here later on.

For those in US and Canada -- I always check soccertv.com -- it lists all the UK soccer matches, usually including, but not always, those on setanta. There is no mention of the Munich game. So, I will try to see if the official NUFC.co.uk can somehow manage to get the Metro broadcast as opposed to crashing my computer, or failing that Eurosport written commentary.

You need a full-blown pro satellite system to try to pick up worldwide broadcasts, Syme. Otherwise the program has to be licensed to a distributor in this country to be shown on closed-circuit or standard domestic satellite.

Basically nobody wants you to see the program without getting money somewhere along the line. (same reason it's next to impossible to find goal videos on the web anymore) :-(

I won't be around for the webcast. The place I'm working at this week doesn't have net access. :-((

Those of you listening or watching, be descriptive. I'll try to relive the match by reading the matchday thread. Not the same but beggars can't be choosers. :-)

I'll do my best Ciara, but being at work (ahem!) I may have to be a bit careful with my exuberance. There's only a very small amount of emotion allowed to be generated in the workplace.

Now, if I decide to "work at hyem" tomorrow afternoon, well, that's another matter! I might even find the odd Dog in the fridge ;-)

I enjoyed my visit, avoiding the Gulf of Mexico as someone lost their arm in a shark attack and a dog got killed by an alligator while I was there!

Will they ever learn that swimming in a shark ridden sea at anytime is a bad idea??

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2001

I was watching a TV documentary the other week and they were saying that Sharks aren't really dangerous. They reckon only a handfull of people are killed each year worldwide compared with hundreds killed by Crocs and Alligators.
