Does anyone know whether there is a capture card that has got both firewire capture as well as analog capture capability?

Such cards are all over the place but may be pricey. Examples are Matrox RT2000/RT2500, Canopus DV Storm, Dazzle Fast bridge (or something). These all have built-in h/w or s/w DV codecs for U to input analogue audio and video and then already have them as type-1 DV AVI files on the HDD after capture, as well as DV (FireWire) in.

Check to see if your DV camera has an analog input. My Sony DV camera outputs and inputs go in the same jack. So I connect my analog source to my DV camera, it converts it and sends it out through the DV output in realtime. I hope this helps.
