Man found dead at business apparently mauled by guard dogs

Associated Press July 23, 2001 11:35:00

PHOENIX - Guard dogs apparently mauled to death a man police believe was trying to burglarize a south Phoenix business.

The victim's body was found this morning when employees arrived for work at Paradise Distributors. The company - located near Eight Street and Tonto- handles pottery.

Police were told that each weekend, a private company brings in two pit bulls to guard the business.

The owners of that company - All Breed K-9 Security - picked up the dogs around 6 a.m. today but didn't notice anything wrong.

Paradise Distributors employees found they body when they arrived about an hour later.

Police say they found signs of a struggle and that it appears the man was mauled by the dogs.

Excuse me, the dogs were left alone all weekend? No wonder they were pissed.

Well, if someone was there with them, there wouldn't be much point in having the dogs there...
