Read somewhere that you've a holiday ahead. Is this a Ryanair job as discussed a few weeks ago?

.... or are you taking your missus to the Labour Clurb?

Oh that it was, te, but it'll be two weeks in Skiathos, mainly because it was a bit last minute cos the others we fancied were all booked, and my wife (I mean it is woman's work after all, innit ?) decided we'd fly somewhere from Newcastle, to save the hassle of driving 2 or 3 hundred miles.

I'm forcing myself to keep an open mind, cos from what I've got off the internet about the island, it's one of the busiest and one of the most expensive, specially in August, and busy-ness ain't what I'm after.

Whether or not we'll be able to get some walking in remains to be seen, there are a couple of ex-pats who organise walks, but I need to look into it a bit more.

The holiday may turn out to be the complete opposite of what we usually do, and we could end up just slobbing and over-indulging for two weeks.

I suppose that over-indulging is no bad thing as long as you don't overdo it......

Enjoy. Northern Italy will wait

That's what I'm doing wrong. I thought the whole point of over- indulgance was to overdo it. :-))

We went to Skiathos last year. Not too busy if you get away from the main beaches (btw, Banana beach is the nude one! ;-). We hired a jeep and drove round the north of the island, not many people there. Quite a bit of potential for walking.

Thanks Steph. I'm still looking into the walking possibilities.

Banana Beach ? Must be men only. :-))

Aint it a bit hot for walking at this time of year? Certainly couldn't do it here.

Mad dogs and Englishmen....

We've done a few, Samos last year, just before it caught fire, when it was too hot even for mad dogs.

As long as I have plenty of water - 3 or 4 litres, usually, and take adequate precautions against sun stroke - I can manage the heat better than the cold and wet.

And the first beer after is absolute nectar.
