If you're using the proper software, when transferring your video into your computer, make sure your convert the video to MPEG1 under videocd. If you try to or transfer under anything else like MPEG2 or MPEG1(DVD,SVCD, etc.) the Adaptec will not recoginzed the recording as an MPEG1 videocd and thus giving you that same message. It will burn a cd but will not be able to use in DVD player. Also, make sure you check to see what your DVD player can read. Some only read CDR, others only CDRW and some both.

I was just wondering how to play the MPEG on a stand alone DVD??

you need a codec like divx, or TMPEGnc, go to divx.com and download the codec. If you want to then go to DVD, use Nero, www. nero.com, it will do both steps, the codec and the burn.

OK i need help too. I also have Roxio Adaptec 5.0 plat. I have tried to make a VCD and when I put it in my DVD it play fine for a couple minutes then it starts shuttering (not digital break down) like slow motion and the audio gets choppy. I have tried defraging and remaking the movie. I tried a different DVD too. I have made the movies with Pinnacle Studio 7 and then use the Roxio video CD creator. Plextor 24 burner. Anyone got any ideas?? Also tried diffent brand cd's. Thanks for any suggestions,
